Katie and Mike met at a mutual friend's Halloween party in 2022. She was a boxer, he was a baseball player. They quickly hit it off, so Katie invited Mike to a Halloween party she was hosting the following evening. Mike showed up and brought candy corn (Katie's favorite), and the rest is history.

Katie had always dreamed of living in Paris, but when she met Mike, she knew her life would be anchored in D.C. for the foreseeable future. When Katie shared this thought with Mike, his first response was "well then let's find a way to live in Paris." The two finagled a way to work remotely in Paris for a month in 2023, and from then on, the city would forever hold a special place in their hearts. They have since returned to the City of Light together, where Mike (smartly) proposed in 2024.

In 2023, Mike and Katie were skiing with friends in Breckenridge, CO when Mike had a bad skiing accident. He underwent multiple surgeries and spent several nights in hospitals in both Colorado and D.C. It was a tough year for both of them, but their relationship was strengthened by the experience. And while the two may never visit Breckenridge again (sorry Hannah & Alex!), they're grateful for the resiliency it brought to their relationship.
