Delicious Coffee Shop right downtown St. Charles. Atmosphere is cozy and their lattees are fantastic!
Lovely spot to hang for an hour or two. It's an organic cafe with plenty of seating, and if you sit in the back, you'll have a beautiful river view!
The title says it all, but if you need more explanation or reason for going, just know that this place is easily one of Karen and Phil's favorite shops in Geneva (St. Charles's neighbor to the south). No...it's more like one of Karen's favorite places in the world! Their homemade chocolate and ice cream is rich, creamy, and to die for.
Grahams Chocolate's sister store, Grahams 318, is a cozy coffee and gelato shop. Their hot chocolate, blended mochas, and home-made gelato are the best. Feeling chocolate fondue? Look no further!
One of Karen's favorite ice cream spots (not as good as Graham's though). Try the "Parent Trap" flavor if you can!
Situated in the downtown area, this old house/book shop/restaurant is adorable and a delicious spot for lunch!
We're not sure what the weather will be like on February 29, but if it's nice enough for a walk, take a stroll down the scenic Fox River Trail. It's about 45 miles long, and St. Charles is situated near the middle, so you can get a nice walk or run in either direction.
A beautiful hiking spot to check out!
If you have time to check out the historic Arcada Theatre, they frequently have national touring acts. You can also stop by upstairs at the speakeasy where you can grab a cocktail and enjoy live music.
Looking for quaint one-of-a-kind shops and really great restaurants? Head to 3rd St. in Geneva and you won't be sorry! Perpendicular to 3rd is State St. (Main St. in Geneva) where there are even more fun stores, restaurants, and bars.
Though we are not gurus when it comes to drinks, there are plenty of bars, pubs, and a couple breweries right downtown St. Charles and Geneva. Here are a few options: McNally's Irish Pub, The Filling Station, Alley 64, Global Brew Taphouse, Pub 222, The Office, Main St. Pub, The House Pub, D and G Brewing, Penrose Brewing Co., and more!
Looking for Chicago style deep dish pizza? Dine in or carry out Karen and Phillip's favorite 'za!
Great spot to grab a quick and tasty sandwich. Closed on Sunday though!
Tiny, quirky Mexican restaurant. If you're needing tacos, give it a try!
This s a great breakfast/brunch spot. Their pancakes are AMAZING! However....go early or you'll wait for 45 minutes.
After Phillip proposed, he and Karen met up with Karen's parents at this restaurant for breakfast. It's nestled inside the Herrington Inn and Spa (super classy hotel). The food is fantastic, and the ambiance is steller (complete with classical string quartet music in the background). Highly recommended for breakfast or brunch, and you won't wait as long as the folks over at Buttermilk!
Another great spot for breakfast or brunch!
Fine Italian dining right here!
