Question

Are children allowed to attend?

Answer

We love your kiddos, but this is an adult only affair! Aside from the nieces and nephews of the bride and groom in our immediate families, we invite everyone to leave their kiddos at home and enjoy a carefree vacation. Thank you for understanding!

Question

What if I can't make it to Mexico? Will there be a post wedding celebration in the US?

Answer

YES! EVERYONE is invited to the post wedding bash in the bride's hometown Olney, MD (or surrounding area) on Saturday, May 21st, 2021, if you didn't make it to Mexico or even if you did, let's keep the party going! All are welcome. Please join us to celebrate!

Question

What are the important booking deadlines?

Answer

All deposits to secure rooms must be paid by August 4th, 2021. Final payment is due November 17, 2021. If your reservation is not paid in full yet, the Modern Travelworks team will send out reminders to those guests two weeks before the due date.

Question

How many nights do I have to book at the resort?

Answer

The resort requires a 3 night minimum stay, but we have the room block for 7 nights so you are welcome to book anywhere between 3 and 7 nights.

Question

Okay, so you're getting married on Tuesday....interesting. So, when do I travel?

Answer

Remember that the day before the wedding, Monday, 2/21/22 is President's Day so if you have the luxury of having the day off that day, it would be your best bet to travel to Mexico on Saturday or Sunday before the wedding and stay until a day or two after the wedding, Wednesday or Thursday. This would be for a 4 to 6 night trip. You can stay as many as 7 nights in our room block. If President's Day doesn't impact your work schedule then you could always travel on Monday and stay until Wednesday, Thursday or until the weekend depending on how many days you would like to stay. But ya know....TREAT YO' SELF, you deserve it.

Question

When is the actual wedding ceremony and reception taking place and when do I need to arrive in Playa Del Carmen?

Answer

We will be holding the ceremony on Tuesday 2/22/22 at 5:00pm during sunset with a cocktail hour and reception to follow. You MUST arrive AT LEAST one day prior to the ceremony so Monday, 2/21/22 is the latest you could possibly arrive.

Question

Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico?

Answer

Yes, AND Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you enter a foreign country. For travel in February, ensure your passports are valid until at least August 2022.

Question

What if the name on my passport does not match the name on my travel reservation?

Answer

TSA requires that all travelers’ full names should appear exactly as they do on the travelers’ passport.

Question

What airport do you fly into for travel to Playa del Carmen?

Answer

The closest airport to Playa del Carmen is the Cancun airport.

Question

Will there be transportation available for wedding guests from the airport to the resort?

Answer

Between 2-4 weeks before departure, the Modern travel team will begin issuing the electronic travel documents. This will include the airport transfer voucher and they will need your flight information to set up your complimentary airport transfer logistics.

Question

What if I did NOT book my airfare with Modern Travelworks, will I still receive a complimentary transportation from the airport?

Answer

If you did not book your airfare with Modern, please forward the travel team your flight itinerary so that the airport transfers can be scheduled.

Question

OK, so I've landed in Cancun, what's next?

Answer

You will proceed through Immigration and Customs where you will show your passport and state the purpose of your visit to an Immigration Agent then they will stamp your passport and you will pick up any checked baggage then continue on to Customs. If you have ever flown into the Cancun airport before, you will remember the button with Green or Red light, but they have done away with this process. The Cancun airport, can be somewhat intimidating the first time or as the below linked article describes it "a busy gong-show" - if you have never been to this airport PLEASE read through this incredibly helpful guide of what to expect, you will be happy you did!: Copy and paste into your browser: https://www.traveloffpath.com/important-tips-travelers-must-know-when-arriving-at-the-cancun-international-airport/

Question

What should I do once I have gotten through Immigration and Customs?

Answer

Find the exit and WALK OUT THE DOORS. There will be SEVERAL people trying to distract you and sell you something along the lines of tours, transportation etc etc, but DO NOT be fooled. You won't need to buy anything they are selling. Just proceed to the exit to where all the shuttle busses and vans are and look for the complimentary Playacar Palace shuttle. There should be someone holding up a sign that will say "Laeng/Kosakowski Wedding" and you may recognize other guests from the wedding party gathering in that area.

Question

Do I need to tip at an all inclusive resort?

Answer

While tipping is not required it is greatly appreciated and as guests of our wedding we would expect you tip the resort staff accordingly. It is recommended to go to the bank prior to travel and request about (40) $1’s, (10) $5’s, and some larger bills to have on hand for waitstaff, bartenders, drivers, bellhops, housekeeping etc. Again, tipping is not a requirement but the additional reward does take great service to an even greater level!

Question

Is there a wedding hashtag for the event?

Answer

YES! It is #PKCKWeddingDayVacay! Is it way too long? Probably. Do we care? Not really. Does it sound really fun and roll off the tongue perfectly when you say it altogether really fast? You're God damn right it does. I also recommend clapping along while you say it. ;-)

Question

What are the COVID-19 protocols?

Answer

As for COVID procedures and requirements, everything is subject to change and we can’t know for certain what February 2022 will look like. With the CDC currently requiring a negative test for air travel passengers to reenter the US, Palace Resorts now offers COVID-19 testing as part of your stay. This is just one of the hundreds of preventative measures in their comprehensive safety program, Purely Palace. Again, I cannot stress enough that is entirely subject to change but it is what is in place for now. The e-documents you receive from the travel agents once you book will contain those most up to date procedures.

Question

Should I bring sunscreen?

Answer

YES, The sun will be VERY strong in this part of Mexico, even if you typically don't burn in the US - be sure to SPF up while in Mexico!

Question

Can I drink the water in Mexico?

Answer

We do not recommend it. While showering, washing your face, brushing your teeth etc is perfectly fine, it is suggested that you only drink the sealed bottles of water provided for you at the resort (or purchased elsewhere). You can also take Charcoal supplements a couple weeks leading up to your travel and while you're there. This will help your stomach with any unforeseen troubles!

Question

Do I need to change my money over to pesos and where should I do that?

Answer

If you do not plan on leaving the resort, you will most likely not need any pesos. You can tip the resort staff in US dollars. HOWEVER, Playa Del Carmen has so much to offer outside of the resort, you can definitely make use of pesos while out and about in town or on excursions. You can of course use credit cards, but be sure to notify your card companies that you will be traveling out of the country. Also, make sure that you exchange your currency before you get to the airport as the exchange rates are exceedingly high. Keep in mind lots of places in Mexico accept US dollars, but it is always good to be prepared with pesos just in case.

Question

Should I purchase travel insurance?

Answer

Normally, we would say no to this question, but after 2020 and all the unpredictable events that it brought, we HIGHLY recommend purchasing the travel insurance just in case anything crazy happens.

Question

Do I need to know Spanish?

Answer

Not necessarily, but a little basic Spanish can go a long way. Greeting or thanking a person in their local language earns respect and separates you from other tourists making rude demands in English -- which is definitely an example of things not to do in Playa Del Carmen.

Question

What kind of transportation should I use throughout the area?

Answer

While your airport transfer to and from the airport is included with a hotel shuttle, you will have to arrange your own transportation if you choose to go somewhere that is not walk-able. We recommend getting a taxi from the valet area of the hotel, the employees there will help you call one. We will also arrange for a grouip shuttle ahead of time for various day trips that may occur during the week.

Question

What is the dress code for the actual wedding?

Answer

Beach Formal. Guests can dress for the elements while maintaining a semi formal attire.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

February in Playa Del Carmen is typically perfect weather, 80 degrees or so and sunny during the day and cooler at night, but still warm. This is a tropical area so it will also be humid! We recommend sunscreen and bug spray!
