We expect all our guests to be vaccinated for COVID-19, or to have received a negative test within the previous 36 hours prior to the wedding.
In order to re-enter the US you will need a negative Covid test, taken within the last 72 hours. While you can get these tests at the airport, we encourage all attendees to get these done on Saturday before the event. To help facilitate this we will be offering Covid-19 Testing at the Casa Habita hotel on Saturday 11/20 beginning at 12pm. The test will be $450 pesos (~$22 USD), we do ask that you bring this in cash. If you are staying at the Hyatt Andares I recommend The Centro Medico Puerta de Hierro Andares ($53 USD, 3-4 hour turnaround). Here is a full list of locations where you can get tested for Covid - https://visitguadalajara.com/sites/default/files/GDL%20COVID-19%20testing%20sites%20updated%201.25.pdf
Due to Covid restrictions, we are very limited in party size. While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that we can adhere to covid restrictions and still have all of our loved ones present. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us
Ladies, a formal full length gown is required. For men suit and tie are required, tuxedo is optional. Weddings in Mexico are quite formal so please be sure to adhere to the dress code! Also if you know the bride at all then you know I love to dress up so please don't be afraid to make a statement with your outfit!
You will need a passport to get to Mexico, so make sure yours is not expired and if you don't have one and want to come, start the process please :) Americans and green card holders do not need Visas to travel to Mexico. I know some of our guests are from various parts of the world so please be sure to check when booking flights!
You can use uber/taxi in Mexico and it is very affordable! There will be shuttles if you book at Casa Habita or the Hyatt Regency Andares which will take you to the Church, Venue and back to your hotel. You can rent a car if you'd like though, but know that driving is a bit more involved than you'd expect! There is parking at the venue if you choose to drive yourself.
It will be 70s during the day and 50s at night. For us fair weather folks that is chilly so you may want to bring a shawl!
The ceremony will be indoors. Reception is outdoors under a large tent. There will be a floor (no grass, thinking of you ladies with heels) and heaters situated throughout the area but if you run cold please bring a shawl/coat.
If your wedding invitation says "And Guest" then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you!
At nice sit down places it is customary to tip 10-15% (only 15% if the service was exceptional!). If you are paying with card then request the terminal (cc reader) and while they are ringing you up, specify what percent you would like to tip. If you are at a very casual place/stand just leave a few coins if you have them!
You can get them directly from your bank. You can also withdraw at ATMs in Mexico but there will likely be a fee associated with it. Currently the exchange rate is at about 19-20 MXN pesos = $1 USD
Yes, Guadalajara is safe for tourists. There are a number of precautions that need to be observed but Guadalajara is an amazing tourist destination. Take care when walking around! Please do not walk around alone after dark, walk in groups or better yet just uber to your next location. Don't have your phone out so that it is not an easy target for people walking/motorcycling by. And lastly, please do not get into bar fights or drunken brawls, you should really just practice this anywhere though.
