Travel

We are working to update this page with travel plans and tips. Text us with any questions! Jenn and Kaare will arrive in Athens on Thursday, October 7 at 4:30pm. We will tour Athens and depart for Santorini the morning of Saturday, October 9. You are welcome to join us in Athens as well! Be sure to research your travels in detail, especially ferry schedules. October is end of season and certain things like some transportation routes will be phasing out.

Flight

JTR

Flying into Santorini (Thira) International Airport (Airport Code: JTR) is the easiest and fastest way to get to Santorini. It is a 50 minute flight from Athens. Most international flights get into Athens and then you can take a smaller flight from Athens into Santorini. The most common airlines are: Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air, Volotea, Ryan Air, EasyJet, and SkyExpress. Flights range from 15-70 euro one way. Please note some of these are are budget airlines so luggage will need to be purchased in addition to the flight. It is cheapest to purchase the luggage when purchasing the flight. This is roughly 20-25 euros a bag. Also note that you must check in online for your flight on some of these airlines. Checking in at the airport may result in additional fees. It is best to book flights directly with the airline. We do not recommend booking through third party sites. Also, look into COVID test requirements very carefully and make sure you are taking the proper test if needed.

Travel Note

Ferry

Taking a ferry from Athens (Piraeus Ferry Port) is also an option. The most common ferry is Blue Star which takes 8 hours but is the most comfortable. There are also 5 to 5.5 hour options, but much bumpier. The best place to look for tickets is ferryhopper.com. Please note some tickets are required to be picked up and others are e-tickets. Flying is most recommended unless you really prefer to enjoy a ferry ride and have time. Please check ferry schedules while considering your travel options. Some ferries are seasonal and stop operating in October. If you cannot see an option for your date or route, it is likely the route is out of season. If a ferry is out of season, flying is your option.

Hotel

Dana Villas-Infinity Suites

Thera, 847 00, Greece

Santorini is a small island so everything is pretty close. We do not have room blocks or wedding rates as COVID made it too complicated. Please stay wherever you prefer! We will be staying at Dana Villa, which is our dream hotel for the wedding and beginning of honeymoon. This is in the Firostefani area, about a ten minute walk to the town of Fira from the North.

For all the days along the way
