Question

What is the couple's travel schedule?

Answer

We will depart for Athens on Weds, Oct 6 and arrive Thurs, Oct 7. We will stay in Athens Oct 7 to Oct 9. We will fly into Santorini on Sat, Oct 9 and stay until Thurs, Oct 14. We will continue to other islands for our honeymoon.

Question

Where to stay on Santorini?

Answer

Santorini from top to bottom is only about an hour apart. We will be staying 10 minutes north of Fira (also known as Thera), the capital. The wedding venue is five minutes south of Fira. Oia has the most iconic view points of Santorini, but is also the most expensive. It is also only about 25 minutes north of Fira. My sister is staying at Ethereum Luxury Cave. I have stayed at Rocabella before and that is nice too. In general, anywhere between Oia and Fira on the west side of the island is great. We recommend booking refundable hotels. Please do your research and look at reviews closely. A good website to reference is: https://santorinidave.com/best-places-santorini

Question

What to do on Santorini?

Answer

So many things! Wine tasting, rent an ATV, hike the volcano, hike the island, visit the beaches, take a boat to the hot springs, shop in Fira, eat over the ocean. The list goes on! A site we like to refer to is www.santorinidave.com.

Question

Booking Flights & Dealing with COVID Test Requirements

Answer

It is best to book flights directly with the airline. We do not recommend booking through third party sites like kayak. Also, look into COVID test requirements very carefully and make sure you are taking the proper test if testing is needed. As of September 2021, as long as you are vaccinated and can show proof of vaccination, you do not need to take a COVID test to enter Greece. Kaare and I will be taking a test before flying just in case/for peace of mind.

Question

Getting Cash

Answer

We always recommend getting cash from a bank ATM instead of using currency exchange places. Almost all of the time, the ATM rate, even with a fee, is much better than any exchange place. Find a well known bank in country and use the ATM there. If the ATM asks you to accept a rate, most of the time you should decline it and it will give you a better rate.

Question

Entering Greece

Answer

Make sure to visit https://travel.gov.gr to fill out the proper forms and get QR code before leaving on your trip. If you are traveling to other countries in Europe, be sure to research their protocols. Some countries, like Italy, require you show a negative test. Be sure to do your research!
