Jake and Lindsay met the modern way... with an online app. Jake blew off the first date for a day on the boat, convinced online dates were a bust. But for some reason, probably their shared love of dogs, they still met up for a drink the following evening. And they shut down the Getaway, talking and laughing. A day later, Jake asked Lindsay out for a second date for Saturday evening, a proper date, with dinner and drinks. Turns out his new boat made for fun days on the water, resulting in necessary evening naps and a postponement of dinner plans. It wasn't until Lindsay was about to get out of her uber at the restaurant that Jake called to say, no dinner, just drinks at 3 Daughters Brewery. Lindsay was in to her second glass of wine by the time he arrived, but he made her laugh until the brewery closed. Then they had to search for a midnight dinner in Downtown St. Pete. Jake insisted on finally having that proper date and took Lindsay to dinner later that week. Since then, the two have shared their love of boating and spoil their two labradors, Josie and Micki. Lindsay convinced Jake that St. Pete is a happening place and he moved into the 1925 bungalow nestled in Magnolia Heights, just north of downtown. On February 14, 2020, yes Valentine's Day, Jake proposed to Lindsay on the Gulfport Pier, near where she grew up. He gave her a family ring, her mother's wedding band set with her paternal grandmother's anniversary diamond. He even asked her father to document the engagement, but Lindsay ruined the timing because she was cold! He surprised her again with dinner with their parents and Lindsay's Matron of Honor, Krista and her family for a wonderful Italian dinner in Gulfport. ❤️
