We don't remember when we first met; it feels like we just appeared in each other's lives. Every Sunday and Wednesday, we had the opportunity to grow in our faith and see one another. In first grade, Claire mentioned at school that she would marry Peter. Her mother often advised her to "marry a boy from church, one who loves Jesus," and Peter happened to be the first person who came to her mind. As time passed, we developed our own personalities and made our faith our own. Claire's brother, Jonah, became friends with Peter, which meant Peter spent a lot of time at the Peterson house. The more time Claire and Peter would spend together, the more they realized their feelings for each other. At their church youth retreat, they finally expressed their feelings for one another and spent the entire camp side by side. Since neither of them had been in a relationship before, they were unsure how to navigate this new phase of their lives. Claire prayed often, asking that the Lord would show her whether they were meant for each other. The very next day, Peter asked Claire out on their first official date. They spent their first date at the movies. Claire was so nervous that she spent the entire movie sitting straight up while Peter reclined his chair. It only took one date for both of them to realize they had been blessed with something truly special. A week later, on May 31, 2019, Peter finally asked Claire to be his girlfriend. The two dated throughout high school, attending school dances, musicals, concerts, and supporting each other through every milestone. They were there for one another when they started their first jobs and on their first days of college. Peter listened to Claire as she vented about nursing school and tough days at the hospital, while Claire listened to Peter express his frustrations with Physics and Calculus homework. After 6 beautiful years together, Peter proposed to Claire on July 27th, 2025. He had her family take her to the Reef Point Marina where he and his family surprised her. Peter led Claire near the water and asked her to be his wife. Despite being young, Peter and Claire have grown together and as individuals. They have faced life's obstacles and persevered. Even while pursuing different paths in their education and career goals, they have remained by each other's side, ensuring that Christ is at the center of their relationship. Together, they volunteer in their church, following their passion for worship. Both have excelled academically, with Peter earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and Claire obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carroll University. We are incredibly grateful that the Lord has blessed us with each other and allowed our relationship to grow and thrive. We would not be where we are today without the love and support of all of you along the way. Thank you!
