Travel and Lodging Tips

Travel Note

Getting to the Forrester Ranch from Dillon

Google maps will get you really close to the Ranch, but over shoots it quite a ways. After following Blacktail Road out of town and towards the Blacktail mountains, just look for the Olsen/Tolton Wedding signs. We'll have you covered.

Flight

For Flyers

Your best options are the Missoula (2+ hour drive to Dillon), Bozeman (2 hours), or Billings (4 hours) Airports. It is possible to fly to Butte which is only about an hour away, but will likely cost a little more.

Travel Note

For Drivers: The Fastest Routes

Driving to Dillon from the west, take I-90 E to the I-15 interchange near Butte, then travel south on I-15 to Dillon. From the east, take I-90 W to Whitehall, then travel south on highways 55 and 41 through Silver Star and Twin Bridges to Dillon.

Travel Note

For Drivers: The Pintler Scenic Route

From Missoula, take I-90 E, then detour to take the beautiful Pintler Scenic Route between Drummond and Anaconda, where you will again meet up with I-90. It will add time to the trip, but is a fun alternative to the freeway and will take you along Georgetown lake.

Travel Note

For Drivers: The Ruby Range Historic Route

From Bozeman, take Highway 191 onto 84 to Norris (maybe stop at Water of The Gods, and take a dip in the lovely Norris Hotsprings). Then turn south and take 287 to Ennis and over the Ruby Mountains through living ghost town, the historic Virginia City.

House Or Rental

Where to Stay: AirBnB

There are a few AirBnB places available which may suit some guests better if they are coming as part of a large family party, or want a kitchen for their stay, or for whatever reason would like to not stay at a hotel. However, please be mindful of the exact locations when perusing listings, as AirBnB suggests stays "near Dillon" that are in or nearer to other towns 30 or more miles away.

House Or Rental

Where to Stay: The Forrester Ranch

For those of the young-of-spine and independent-spirits, there is ample space for camping at the ranch. We will help you find a place for your tent, but please understand we will not be able to host campers outside of the wedding events, i.e. you will be on your own for food and entertainment excepting the Welcome Tea, the Wedding, and Brunch, and cannot use the ranch house or wedding grounds (just like guests staying elsewhere). Concerning hygiene, there will be port-a-potties on site, and showers can be taken at the Dillon YMCA (link below). Use of the Y is free to active members of other YMCA locations. There is a charge for a towel if you do not bring your own. The benefits of camping are that you will not need to worry about driving after the wedding, and you will be waking up to one of the best views in the area!
