Google maps will get you really close to the Ranch, but over shoots it quite a ways. After following Blacktail Road out of town and towards the Blacktail mountains, just look for the Olsen/Tolton Wedding signs. We'll have you covered. Find this note on our "Travel" Page, and there is a direct link to the ranch address in google maps!
Google maps has this one down better than they do the ranch. Please search 255 Ridgeview Drive, Dillon, MT in your maps app.
Please see our recommended Dillon restaurants on the "Things to Do" page. A personal favorite is La Fiesta Mexicana, also known as The Taco Bus.
We, along with our party, will be dressed in our wedding best, but please wear whatever you feel comfortable. Early July is often very warm, sometimes hot days, but this area can cool down quickly, and brief summer storms will sometimes roll through. Sunscreen is advisable for the ceremony, and footwear for uneven ground should be considered. Stilettos or otherwise very pointy, or very high heels are discouraged.
We looked into this hoping to arrange shuttles to and from the hotels where we have blocks, both for guests who will be drinking alcohol, and for those who otherwise would like a ride, can't drive after dark, etc. However, we have been unable to procure such a service. If driving after the wedding is a concern, we encourage you to collaborate with other guests to see about carpooling or a designated driver, or review the "Camping at the Ranch" heading under the lodging tab to see if that is an appropriate option for you. We ask all guests to please make responsible choices, know your limit, and plan ahead. As far as we know, there is no Uber in Dillon.
The Wedding and Welcome tea absolutely are! And we're mostly covering the brunch, but we would love this to be potluck style if possible. If you can bring a dish to share, that would be lovely, but please know you are very welcome either way! As far as the night out on the 4th of July, this is a no-host event. As much as we'd love to, we can't cover your tab for this.
Ruhiyyih (pronounced rue-he-yeh) is is a Persian name which comes from the Arabic root, Ruh, meaning "spirit". Ruhiyyih was raised in the Baha'i Faith and was named for Rúhíyyih Rabbání, originally Mary Maxwell, and known to Baha'is as Rúhíyyih Khánum (1910 to 2000). Mary Maxwell was born in Canada and took the name Rúhíyyih when she married a Persian man, then-leader of the Baha'i Faith, Shoghi Effendi. She was known for her intelligence, wit, and love of justice. Throughout her life, she spoke out against racism and prejudices, championed the rights of indigenous peoples, and fought for environmental issues. She was a co-founder of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation, a "secular body that helps the world's major faiths develop environmental programmes based on their own core teachings, beliefs and practices. ...[Because faiths] are the oldest human organizations on the planet and together make up the biggest element of civil society today." So, quite a namesake, you can see!
