La Jolla Cove is a small beach neighborhood surrounded by cliffs. The area is popular with swimmers (including Phoebe's Dad Brian), snorklers, kayakers, and surfers. There are lots of sea lions you can see sunbathing on the surrounding rocks! La Jolla Cove is where a lot of our hotel recommendations are so we encourage you to spend some time walking around the area! A few favorite spots include Girard Gourmet for cookies and sandwiches (the cookies are Peter's Mom Karen’s favorite), George's at the Cove for lunch and a rooftop drink, and Parakeet Cafe for coffee or some brunch. There is also a ton of shopping in the area to check out!
Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is an amazing state park located in La Jolla and close to the Estancia Hotel. It is a great place to hike which lots of options of various lengths all with great ocean views!
For something a little different we highly recommend a visit to the Torrey Pines Gliderport, one of La Jolla’s most breathtaking spots. Perched atop coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Gliderport offers incredible panoramic views and the chance to watch paragliders soar above the waves. They also have an on-site café great for lunch or a drink. It's a very unique and unforgettable experience!
Torrey Pines Golf Course is a must for any avid golfers. It can be difficult to get a tee time so if you need other recommendations reach out to Peter for more of his favorite courses in the area!
For all our out of state friends we highly recommend taking advantage of a beach day if the weather is nice! There are tons of amazing beaches in La Jolla including La Jolla Shores Beach, Black's Beach, and Windansea Beach. We can also provide lots of recommendations for options more north of La Jolla including Del Mar and Solana Beach so just reach out if needed!
