Grafton Notch is a must if you're looking for good hiking close to the venue. For a more intense hiking experience, we recommend taking a trip up to the summit of Old Speck or hitting North and South Bald Pate peaks. For a lighter hike with great views, Table Rock Trail is the way to go!
Tucked within Grafton Notch State Park is a popular and easily accessible waterfall attraction - Screw Auger Falls. The 23-foot waterfall and collection of boulders, crevices and pools is a perfect spot to explore, picnic, or even take a dip.
Within an hour drive from Bethel, you have full access to New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest which offers up a multitude of hikes both big and small including the monumental Mt. Washington, which can be reached by car, train or foot. If you want any specific hiking recommendations, we're happy to tell you our favorites!
If you're looking for a fun indoor activity in town, bowling at River Lanes is the way to go! With brand new lanes, lots of space, and a great selection of food and beverages, it's always a good experience. We've spent many summer and winter evenings here gathering with friends.
Hands down our favorite spot to grab a bite in Bethel! No matter what we get, it is always delicious and the salt and vinegar fries are killer. Casual and minimalist, with a tremendous selection of local Maine-brewed beers, this is one of the best spots in town for lunch or dinner.
Awesome Maine brewery headquartered in Portland that is well known for their "milkshake" style IPAs and sours. This third location of Definitive just opened in late 2021 and is a great spot to sip on a beverage and enjoy the view of Sunday River.
A casual brewery atmosphere on Sunday River's access road with a variety of brews, cocktails and food. A great place to unwind after a hike in Grafton Notch.
We add this recommendation purely for the fact that the club house has a gorgeous restaurant and deck overlooking the course and surrounding mountains. If you're looking for a bite and a drink with a view, this is the place to be....and probably the golfing is pretty good too. :)
Although we have never dined here first hand, we've heard from many that the food is good and the casually-upscale atmosphere is very welcoming. The restaurant also received the 2021 Wine Enthusiast award, so if you're a wine drinker, this place may be right up your alley.
