Guests should wear formal attire (there is no expectation for males to wear tuxedos).
We are excited to have an adult-only celebration: 21 years of age and older. No children allowed.
We do not. Your choice to celebrate with us is a gift in itself. If you choose, we will accept monetary gifts. There will be a box at the venue for card collection.
To/From the airport: We recommend Uber/Taxis. Some airports do have train options, but our recommendation remains Uber/Taxis. Within NYC: We strongly recommend downloading Google Maps. This app outlines your transit options: Car (Taxi/Uber), Subway, and Walking. This said, NYC is very walkable and much of the city has great subway access. Note: New York City transit can be chaotic, so we recommend everyone take transportation commensurate with their comfort level. We recommend those who are uncomfortable with the subways, especially at night, utilize Ubers/Taxis.
In NYC, short-term rentals (Airbnb, Vrbo, etc.) are legally complicated. We recommend all out-of-state guests stay in recognized, brand-name hotels or higher-rate boutiques. About NYC Hotels: NYC ranks 4th for quantity of hotel accommodations in the US and - with so many options - choosing the right hotel can be overwhelming. We recommend selecting a neighborhood first (i.e. Financial District, Tribeca, Upper West Side, etc.), and then basing your decision on your budget. If you are not familiar with NYC, please consider the following: Guest of Danielle & Peter? Please stay in the Financial District, near 7 Dey Street. We have secured a hotel block at The Beekman (https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/group-booking/LGATH/G-DAPF). Alternative recommendations include: Moxy NYC Downtown $$ (https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/nycof-moxy-nyc-downtown/) and Millennium Downtown $ (https://www.millenniumhotels.com/en/new-york/millennium-downtown-new-york). Family of Karen Fay? Please reach out to Karen directly. Family of Michael Fay? Please reach out to Michael directly. IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, New York City can be quite expensive. To avoid shoddy accommodations, we recommend reading online reviews and avoiding hotels offering steeply discounted rates.
There is no right way to see NYC, however, we recommend NOT trying to do it all. Pick a few must-do's and allow yourself to explore the city around them. Some common options include: walking around Central Park, visiting Time Square, and seeing a Broadway Show. Curious about our favorites? See below. Danielle's top pick: Hudson River Park (free). Hudson River Park offers beautiful views of the city and is a must do recommendation to experience life as a New Yorker. This is where you will find Danielle most often in her free time. https://hudsonriverpark.org/ Peter's top pick: Shopping in the Oculus and Brookfield Place. These indoor malls are connected venues offering lots of clothing and food options. Bonus: You are steps away from World Trade Center Memorial, Museum, and One World Trade Tower. For a rainy day, this is a top pick! https://bfplny.com/ & https://www.officialworldtradecenter.com/en/local/learn-about-wtc/oculus-transportation-hub.html Ann's top pick (Mother of the Bride): Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island ($35). This is a great half-day trip but *beware of scammers*! Please visit the website before you go, section: "How to Purchase Tickets". Do not stop to speak with anyone who approaches you attempting to sell tickets. Scammers will claim tickets are more expensive and will offer cruises that bring you near - but not on - the island. https://www.statueofliberty.org/visit/ Karen's top pick (Mother of the Groom): For history and book lovers, Karen recommends a NYC treasure and hidden gem... the Morgan Library & Museum ($28.50). Formerly the private library of American financier J.P. Morgan, this small museum is known for its extraordinary collection of rare books and manuscripts. It is a truly gorgeous space. Plan on spending 1.5-2 hours there, then head over to Penelope for some delicious comfort food. Pumpkin pancakes... yum! https://www.themorgan.org/visit & https://penelopenyc.com/
If you are a member of our extended family, please reach out to your host relative. For all other guests, please contact Peter or Danielle directly.
