Question

Is Natal, Brazil safe?

Answer

Brazil is not Disneyland. Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend everyone follow a few simple rules: 1. Do not flaunt expensive items in public. The most common issue is stolen cell phones. 2. Try not to draw too much attention to yourselves. Shouting loudly in English may draw unwanted attention. 3. Do not walk. Feel free to explore Natal but take Ubers. For example, you and a group want to go out for dinner and a drink. You call an Uber to Camarões, enjoy a great meal, call an Uber to Levu, have a nice cocktail, and then call an Uber back to Wish. We don't anticipate any issues. Our itinerary and recommendations are fun, adventurous, and safe. We will provide a "safety card" that you can carry and show in the unlikely case of an emergency.

Question

Are all the meals planned?

Answer

Breakfast: We recommended and are assuming that everyone staying at Wish reserved the "breakfast included" option. Plan on all breakfasts at the hotel. Lunch & Dinner: We're providing light bites at the Welcome Party, a big BBQ dinner at the BBQ Party, and buffet dinner at the Wedding. For all other meals, there will be a variety of convenient and delicious options. The hotel has multiple restaurants, or check out our list of recommended restaurants in Natal on the "Things To Do" tab of our site.

Question

How will I get around town?

Answer

Transportation will be provided to and from Wish Hotel for the BBQ party, Pipa trip, Boat Party, and Wedding. In all other cases, we recommend Uber. It is cheap and reliable in Natal. For safety reasons, we recommend not walking around, especially at night.

Question

Should I carry local currency?

Answer

In most cases vendors will take credit cards. You should make sure your card is cleared for use in Brasil. The only case where cash might be useful would be for purchasing things from local beach vendors. The local currency is trading at ~5.6 Reais to 1 USD. A fresh coconut water from a beach vendor is 2-5R each. It will help if you speak Portuguese...

Question

Do people tip in Brasil?

Answer

Tipping is not common in Brasil, but it is certainly welcome.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes! The catering company will accommodate all dietary requests and preferences. When responding to the RSVP for the wedding and various events, please feel free to include any dietary needs or preferences you may have.
