Because it's an island, taking a ferry across is a necessary part of the travel! There are many different ferries depending on where you are traveling from, but most commonly known and traveled is the Steamship Authority out of Woods Hole, MA. There are two parking locations (Thomas B. Landers Lot and Palmer Ave Lot) for this ferry that change day-to-day so it's best to check on your day of travel to establish where to park. This info can be found on their website along with ferry times https://www.steamshipauthority.com/. Parking ranges from $18-22/day. A one way ticket for the ferry is ~$20.50 and a round trip is ~$41/per adult. There are buses that run constantly to shuttle visitors from lot to ferry and back again. You’ll want to arrive at the parking lot 45-30 minutes before your desired scheduled departure. The ferry is approximately 45 min across one way. Other ferries to consider if you are coming from the western side of MA: RI fast ferry out of Quonset, Seastreak Ferry out of New Bedford, MA, or Seastreak Ferry out of NYC. Of note: These ferries do not allow you to bring a vehicle on board. Another alternate method if you prefer sky over ocean would be Cape Air! You can fly directly to MVY from Boston, Hyannis, Nantucket, New Bedford, New York, and Westchester county.
Yes! You can bring your car over with a reservation through the Steamship Authority. I would highly recommend making a reservation for this at least 6 months in advance if you are considering doing so as spots fill rather quickly, especially during peak season. Ferry reservations for vehicles open in February of the same year. Although September is slower than mid-July on the island, it's still plenty busy. The cost to bring a vehicle over round trip ranges from $150-$300 depending on time of year and vehicle size. More info on pricing and reservations can be found here: https://steamshipauthorityschedules.com/fare-information/ All this being said - it is totally feasible to get around island without a car and not at all necessary to bring one! :)
Yes! There is Uber, Lyft, and other taxi forms of transportation. There are also bike and car rentals available as well :)
Yes- there will be parking at both. However, we will have pre-arranged transportation to and from the reception site at Atria (Edgartown) to the ceremony site at Lambert's Cove Beach (West Tisbury).
September is one of the most beautiful months on the island!! But it can also be a bit rainy depending. I would plan for the days to be mid to low 70s and the evenings to drop down closer to high 50s/low 60s. Personally I plan to dress for warm weather during the day with layers and/or a cover up at night in the fall on MVY.
No. While we do love the young hearts in our life, this is strictly an adult-only event and we want it to be as carefree as possible! We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that the significant notice allows for babysitters, child care, etc. Parents get to enjoy themselves, too. ;)
Your invite will specifically list whether a plus one is invited. If it does not explicitly say so, it can be assumed that the invite is solely meant for you. We have to follow these guidelines as we give the planners and the venue a certain number of people to plan for. Thank you for your understanding, and we are just as excited to celebrate with you!
Heck yeah! We plan to have an open bar available to all of our guests during the cocktail hour, reception, and dancing hours. When we transition to the after-party hours in the brick cellar, it will become a bar for purchase.
Our hope for this special day is that everyone is as immersed as we are in creating love, relationships, and being present in the moment. We ask that there is no photography/videography being documented during the ceremony other than our lovely professionals whose sole purpose is to do just so. This can be distracting to other guests, block other's views, pollute professional photos and videos, and overall be distasteful. We want everyone to remember this day just as we do - with our own eyes, not through the lens of an iPhone! Professional photos will be shared on social media once released for your personal memories. :)
With the exception of the ceremony- yes!! And please use our hashtag #EllLoveYouForever :)
