February 2017 is where our story begins. I was on a break from dating. My daughter, Serena, told me in July of 2016 that I needed to go on a date and then she set up an online profile for me. I did not go near that thing for two weeks! By December I was a little disheartened, and had a hard time believing that anyone meets their "person" that way. I "hid" my profile and was officially done with online dating for awhile! Around the end of February, I decided to look for people in my area to do things with. I "unhid" my profile and starting to search for friends in my area. I had never searched beyond my area, because what was the point? This particular night, I had a thought. What if my "person" wasn't in Utah? For the first time, I opened my search to the whole United States. I saw Perry's profile - it caught my eye immediately. I was so curious about this guy from Texas. Curiosity got the best of me, and I checked him out. The crazy thing is, he kept it very vague, and I was even more curious about him after seeing his profile. As soon as he noticed that I had viewed his profile, he sent me a message. Two months of texts, calls and video chats later, I decided that I needed to meet this Perry Davis and see if there was a reason to keep this thing going. I planned my first trip to Texas in April of 2017. He did not disappoint. Coming down the escalator, I saw him there with flowers and the biggest Texas grin that I had ever seen. He planned the best first date weekend ever. He planned everything so that I could learn about him by experiencing his favorite things with him. He took me to Crystal Beach and we rode the ferry and saw the dolphins. Then, off to Kemah to ride the roller coaster. We rode it three times! He showed me the city. We went to my first Astros game, and I was hooked! It was an unforgettable weekend. This girl left with a major crush. The rest is history. We've traveled to see each other every 4-6 weeks since. We were engaged in Galveston in May.
After we officially met in person and spent one of the best weekends of my life with this pretty little lady from Utah, I reminisce and think about that unforgettable moment when I dropped her off at the airport. I remember how my heart dropped, and how my eyes swelled up with tears as I watched her walk away in the distance. I knew that I was going to miss her immediately and I knew she had my heart. I knew my best friend was leaving, but I also knew I would be seeing her again very soon...ultimately hoping there would be no more airport hellos or goodbyes, but only hi babe I'm home... I love you Tracy Lindsey...and I'll be seeing you again, very soon.
