It all started on a drizzly February morning, a standard San Francisco start to the day. David walked into a new office - the first day at the new job - where, across the office from each other, Brittany and David locked eyes for the very first time. While the attraction was immediate, it was a slow start. An email here, a Slack message there; but within months what began as over contemplated hellos transitioned into addicting conversations. Conversations that never really ended at any point, they just picked up right where they left off after that meeting, after some dinner, or in the morning. Before long it was obvious to them both where this was heading, and David, afraid of how an in-office relationship could ever work, decided to bow out to protect them both. What started so quickly came to an abrupt halt. Warm smiles and waves turned into awkward encounters during poorly timed bathroom breaks. And life went on this way for a couple of months... In October later that year we had a company outing - a day off work, out in the bay, having fun with coworkers. The sun was shining, and the wind was unusually still out on the water. Brittany and David hadn't spoken to one another for 4 months, despite constantly wondering what the other was thinking throughout that period of time. The beautiful day continued into a night out, where both Brittany and David joined an after-hours gathering in the city. Brittany and David had many of the same friends at Prosperworks. And that night many of them, including David and Brittany, gathered in the same room telling office stories, laughing at jokes. Within seconds, where there were once eight people in a room, all of a sudden there were only two - Brittany and David. They stared at each other awkwardly for a moment, and then every thought and feeling that had been bottled up came flooding out. David joined the same company that Brittany worked at in Feb 2016. They started crushing on one another, but because they worked together, David chickened out without giving Brittany any reason. They avoided each other for months. Later on that year, after a company boat trip, they ended up at the same after-party. During the night, they somehow got stuck in the same room alone with one another. Brittany cornered David, asking questions that she deserved answers to. David nearly shat himself but came out with the truth - that he had overwhelming feelings for Brittany. They went on their first date the next day.
