Our theory is this: When two people reach the age of 30 and haven’t yet found the ‘one,’ this can motivate mutual friends more than ever before. For months, Penny’s friends had been trying to throw James’ name into the bucket of available bachelors, yet she 1) didn’t date coworkers and 2) thought he looked too much like her brother (spoiler alert: he’s better looking). While there will always be some controversy over who ultimately convinced Penny to meet this James character, one thing remains until this day; We feel so lucky that our friends set us up and we certainly haven’t wasted time since then! It was a long weekend in January 2018 when we first met each other, and it happened to be at a wine bar (shocking, we know) in San Francisco. To say there were sparks would be an understatement, as Penny and James proceeded to ignore everyone else (except each other) the entirety of the night. The night ended with James walking Penny home, putting his jacket around her shoulders on that cold night, and having our first kiss in front of the San Francisco capitol. It should be made known that Penny still contends the first kiss happened on the dance floor at the club earlier that night. The ultimatum: Fast forward two weeks later (yes, two weeks…Keep up!), James took Penny away for the weekend to Big Sur. It was during this weekend that the two discussed life, future plans for a family, laughed uncontrollably, and couldn’t stop thinking about how in love we were…When you know, you know. On the drive back to San Francisco, Penny put it bluntly, “Are you willing to move to New York or not?” Although James made it seem like he had to critically think about this question for 5-10 minutes, he immediately knew his future was with this person and finally said, “Sure, I could move to NYC.” As they say, the rest is history folks!
