Derek claims he met Leah one afternoon when she was loudly making her presence known coming into the office. Admittedly, Leah being loud is a believable detail. Leah believes they met when Derek was a last-minute add to the recruiting event she was running at her alma mater, GW. Derek had been at the company for less than a year and Leah was not looking forward to having to teach a newbie how to run a recruitment event. Derek turned out to be a pleasant surprise. They spent the next three hours talking to nervous job-seeking college students and shaking way too many sweaty hands. Derek officially won Leah over by trading some Capco branded lip balm for some EY branded hand sanitizer. Derek even met two of Leah’s best friends from college who were there representing their firms - the same friends would a few months later say, “Wait, the Derek from the career fair?!” Leah and Derek both knew they met someone special that day. They spent the next months together in meetings, softball games, and carpools developing the best friendship that they share today. While Derek and Leah intended on taking things slow, their partnership took off quickly with some fun milestones along the way, including: ⁃ Leah heavily influenced Derek’s move to DC, choosing an apartment for him because of the pool, composting, and view of the Capitol ⁃ Leah treated a sick Derek to her lentil soup, only to dump an entire blender of soup all over his brand new apartment ⁃ Leah walked Galaxy for the first time and she (Galaxy, not Leah) rolled in gum. Mind you, this was the same day as the soup incident - tough day ⁃ Derek called Capco HR to break the news of their relationship. Their awesome HR Business Partner said, “Wow — what a power couple!” - Derek called Leah and joked that he was fired. ⁃ Derek sold his beloved Purple mattress to make room for Leah’s beloved Tempur-Pedic mattress and his new roommate Together, Leah and Derek are so happy to share another milestone with you all.
