Maui Kayak Adventures

Mama's Fish House

This is on the way to the "Road to Hana" in Paia. Busy restaurant, so make a reservation. The view is gorgeous, so we suggest going for an earlier dinner.

Ritz Carlton Kapalua

On the west side of the island, in Kapalua. Really nice place, but still only need golf shorts and golf shirt level attire. Good sushi/sashimi!

Hookipa Beach

On the way to the "Road to Hana" (before Paia), popular for watching surfing, wind surfing, turtles and monk seals.

Kimo's Maui

Kimo means Jim, so naturally you'll likely find the Father of the Bride (Jim Young) here. Definitely a family favorite of the Youngs! Their patio has an amazing view and the surrounding area of Lahaina is a great way to spend an afternoon exploring and shopping.

Fleetwood's on Front St.

Owned by Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac. Not local style food, but food/bar has been terrific, AND you never know who shows up to play music. They have a really nice rooftop with a great view of the ocean.

Iao Valley

Historic battle site from when the famous King Kamehameha was trying to unify the islands under his rule. The most fun for me was following the river quite a ways upstream and swimming in very clear, clean, cool pools. Wear athletic shoes or hikers if you go upstream.

Haleakala Crater

Suggest taking the van up at 4 a.m. and ride bikes down for a sunrise view. We recommend Bike Maui company - do the self guided tour, NOT the guided tour. If you're not interested in biking, you can drive up to watch the sunrise and take interior walking trails in the crater. Bring a jacket and athletic/hiking shoes. It is quite windy/cold up there.

Little Beach

Check it out on Sundays for a Sunday Funday!

Makawao

Google Piiholo Ranch, Surfing Goat Dairy and art tours. Lots to do for things like zip lining, horseback riding, food tours, etc.

Lahaina

Lahaina is a great town, touristy at times but fun. Lots to eat, shop, drink. A couple good bars and eateries on the east end (across from the banyan tree). Look and you can find original arts and crafts at the fair under the banyan tree.

Snorkeling

Lots of snorkeling opportunities on your own. Ask for snorkeling sites at various dive shops that rent masks/snorkels/fins. Do not go on a Molokini snorkeling trip on Maui.....not worth it. Too deep, too rough, can't get close to the ocean life.

Adventure Recommendations

Unrealhawaii.com is a great site to find new adventure things to dO. It has descriptions of hikes, level of difficulty, estimated time, photos, etc. Highly recommend checking it out to see if anything interests you.

Hana Highway

Hair pin narrow road for several hours but well worth it if you stop and explore. Download an app to listen to and takes you along the mile marker (recommend : Shaka Guide) . Pull over frequently if anything looks like there might be a trail leading into the rain forest or mountain. There are lots of overlooked waterfalls and forested areas that are terrific. Try get to the far end by Seven Sacred Pools. You should be at the beginning of the journey at about 6:00 a.m. This is a full day. But do not go if it is raining or bad weather predicted. If you're lucky, you may come across the Green Bay Packers sign! South of Hana between Hamoa Beach & the Seven Sacred Pools.
