For the Ladies: A formal summer sundress with sandals or a jumpsuit that’s light and dressy. A good rule for an outdoor island wedding is to avoid heels and opt for dressy sandals or flats. If you prefer to go with heels, wedges might be your best bet. For the Gents: Dress or linen pants with sandals, boat shoes, or dress shoes. Suit coats are not necessary.
You're free to stay where ever you want! Kihei is where the Young & Peña families will be staying, and it's centrally located on the island. Transportation for the wedding will also be provided, with pickup and drop-off in Kihei. If you have other accommodations that you'd like to stay at, you're more than welcome to. Our travel agent, Jenette, can also assist with package deals for flight + hotel + rental car.
No, we're recommending condo through VRBO or AirBnB for cost flexibility. There are hotels in the area and you're welcome to stay where ever you like!
We'll provide a shuttle for all guests from Kihei, to the church in Paia, and the reception in Kula. The shuttle will also bring guests back to Kihei at the end of the evening. We recommend taking the shuttle, so you can enjoy your evening worry-free of navigation.
We recognize that traveling to Hawaii is not simple. We chose a Thursday to allow for flexibility within your travel schedule and work schedule.
Visitors who are itching to get out and explore can rent a car at Kahului Airport. Reservations should be made well in advance. Other Maui transportation options include tour buses, trolleys, city buses, and some Ubers. There are Ubers around Kihei, but it may be difficult to rely on Uber for sightseeing. When driving on Maui, be sure to follow “aloha” traffic customs. Drive slowly, let locals pass and don’t tailgate. Driving here is much more relaxed than the mainland, so take it easy and enjoy the scenery.
