Last summer, the OC City Council instated a rule that limits the size of bags on the boardwalk between 8:00 pm and 1:00 am during the peak season. Bag sizes are limited to 8"x 6" x 8"—about the size of a half sheet of paper—during these hours. The municipal code (linked below) lists the exceptions to this rule. This rule will continue for the 2024 summer season. The penalty for violating this rule includes two police warnings before anything happens, and this rule doesn't apply anywhere but the boardwalk, so if you forget or you get stuck somewhere you can just exit the boardwalk and walk on the sidewalk instead. If you need a place to start looking/a size reference, Emma got this bag last year to meet the size requirements (use ID.me if you're a teacher for discounts/keep an eye out for sales): https://verabradley.com/products/rfid-wallet-crossbody-3819318467?variant=42528433045548

Last summer, the OC City Council instated a few new rules on the beach and boardwalk. These new rules include: -The beach itself closes at 8:00 pm. -All minors (under 18) must must be with an adult if they are out between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am. This rule will continue for the 2024 summer season. To be honest, things in Ocean City tend to close on the earlier side, so unless you have a child who likes to take solo midnight walks, it's unlikely that the curfew for minors will impact your trip. The penalty also includes two police warnings and opportunities to leave the public area before anything happens, so if someone in your family forgets, it won't be the end of the world.

Ocean City's own website for tourists is actually pretty useful. It's worth a look if you decide to plan a trip!
