FAQs

Question

How will I know where to go for the ceremony if it rains?

Answer

Check back in here! We'll share any important information using this website's announcement bar (a navy blue bar that pops up at the top of the page), including a location in the event of inclement weather.

Question

What if I don't have a car/need to use public transportation?

Answer

Please let us know if you need help getting to Ocean City from a public transit station! We can help by calling an Uber car to get you to your destination. If enough people reach out to us about transportation, we'll look into other options, such as chartering a private driver. Feel free to let us know you're still figuring things out when you RSVP, but please let us know as soon as possible if (and when) you'll need a car! If you're staying in a different area, such as further south in Ocean City or on another island, let us know as well, please! That will allow us to connect you with others who need to make that same trip or help you out if you're in need of transportation options as well.

Question

Will I need a beach tag?

Answer

On the morning of the wedding, you will not need a beach tag. Please let the guard at the entrance know that you're attending a wedding and they will let you onto the beach. If they ask for the name of the permit holder, give them Bryan's name. After the ceremony takes place, everyone over the age of 12 will need a beach tag to use the public beach. Beach tags are $35 apiece. Many hotels and rentals on the island include beach tags as part of the total rental cost, so if you intend to use the beach, it might be worth looking at local accommodations!

Question

Where can we find the nearest restrooms at the ceremony?

Answer

Our ceremony will be on the 8th Street Beach, which is directly next to Ocean City's Music Pier. There are public restrooms for women under the covered pier, and the men's restrooms are on the opposite side of the building.

Question

What's the dress code for this?

Answer

We'll be on a beach in August for the ceremony, so wear something that can withstand a little sun and sand! We don't have much of an opinion about style or formality of dress, to be honest. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful. We won't be wearing shoes during the ceremony, so don't feel pressure to wear yours, either. We definitely recommend sunglasses, but we'll have extras on the beach for you if you need a pair!

Question

Should we get something on your gift registry?

Answer

We know that it takes money to travel, whether you come down for the day or stay overnight. We'll just be happy to have you there. No gifts necessary. If for whatever reason you feel strongly about contributing a gift, we have linked a registry that includes our "honeymoon" fund. But really, your presence and the ability to celebrate with you are all we need.

Question

Are you still concerned about Covid-19?

Answer

Yes. Both of us are high risk for severe outcomes if we get sick due to Covid-19. There also may be children at our reception too young to be vaccinated. We still mask in public indoor spaces and crowded outdoor spaces. We know that we can't control how other people (including guests) choose to protect themselves. We would wholeheartedly appreciate it if guests could wear masks in public indoor spaces for the week before our wedding, but we also know that people may not be able or willing to do so. At the wedding itself (as well as before and after, if you choose to stay for a while!), we will have masks in both adult and child sizes available for people to use if they wish, as well as rapid antigen tests. We're also having our casual reception—as well as our ceremony, if there's inclement weather—in a space with lots of balconies and open doors. We'll have multiple HEPA filters running and Far-UVC lights. (The latter have been tested extensively and are effective at reducing pathogens in the air, while also being safe for human exposure when arranged properly!) If you are also a clean air advocate and would like to help us make this as safe an event as possible, please reach out! We'll let you know how you can help!

Question

This clearly involves travel. Are you really asking me to travel alone? Or leave my family behind for the day?

Answer

Of course not, that would be monstrous! You and your family are all invited to both the ceremony and the reception. There will be enough food and space for all of us. Your loved ones aren't obligated to join us for the ceremony or join us at all, but they will be welcomed if they do. If you aren't coming with your family, then your invitation will include a +1 on the envelope. There will be a space to write in their name when you RSVP. If you're not sure who you're bringing yet, just put in an obvious placeholder and let us know your travel partner's name when you decide.

Question

Where can I get alcohol on the island?

Answer

Nowhere! Ocean City is a "dry island," which means there are no bars or places to buy alcohol, and you can't order alcohol if you sit down at a restaurant. The nearest liquor/beer store is in Somers Point, the first thing you see when you cross over the 9th Street Bridge. Many of the hotels and motels in the area have jitney service to other nearby barrier islands that don't have "dry island" laws. We'll have wine available at the reception for those who wish to partake.

Question

Will there be other opportunities to spend time together over the weekend?

Answer

We'll be in Ocean City until August 19th. We'll be sharing more information as we get closer to the wedding date!
