Question

Why Punta Cana?

Answer

Punta Cana is a mid point between our birth places, which reminds us to always meet each other half way. Most of you know that we love to sit back and relax, have fun, celebrate and spread the love we have for each other...which is why a wedding in paradise fits our personalities and style so well!

Question

When and how do I book my room(s)?

Answer

Book before February 1st. Use only this link to book: https://events.melia.com/events/paradisus-palma-real-golf-spa-resort/Pelayo---Block-Wedding-Group-.html Please contact the Bride or Groom if there are no rooms available. They will add more for you. Bride’s contact: 781-866-7655 or pelayoa@merrimack.edu

Question

When and how can I book airfare?

Answer

You can officially book it now or monitor prices throughout the coming months. We recommend staying from Thursday-Monday, Friday-Monday, or whatever window suits you. This is your vacation time too, so feel free to stay later or come earlier! You can really book your flights whenever you want. But we recommend that you get a fully refundable ticket with the current travel climate.

Question

How long is the wedding couple staying at the resort?

Answer

We will be there from Sunday April 17th 2022- Monday April 25th 2022. You can stay with us as long as you want!

Question

What country/city/airport will I need to go to in order to attend the wedding?

Answer

We suggest flying into PUJ, which is Punta Cana's airport in the Dominican Republic. It is about 20 minutes by car/shuttle to the resort.

Question

How do I get from the Punta Cana airport to the resort?

Answer

You can arrange your transport to and from the hotel to the airport prior to your trip through any transportation company in Punta Cana, but we recommend booking this one: https://www.otiumtour.com/melia/en We recommend doing this when you book your ticket/stay. You can also use a taxi and expect to pay $20-$30 each way. They are very safe but their are not honest with pricing, so don’t let them charge you more than that! They will take USD, Euros, and Dominican Pesos. Or you could download the Uber app and use that once you are there.

Question

What else besides attending the wedding will I be doing at the resort?

Answer

The resort’s website has information on activities outside of the wedding festivities. You can book them in advance or at the resort. There will be a welcome party on Thursday evening prior to the wedding on Saturday April 23rd, 2022 for those arriving on or before Thursday. There will be a rehearsal dinner Friday (night before the wedding) for the wedding party. The couple will also host poolside drinks on Friday and plan to have Sunday brunch together. There will be an after party on Saturday night.

Question

Do I need a Visa or any paperwork to enter the Dominican Republic?

Answer

US, EU, Panama, Chile, and Canada citizens do not need visas unless they plan to stay more than 30 days. If staying less than 30 days, you only need your passport and it must be valid for the duration of your stay through your departure date. Anyone who does not have a US, Dominican Republic, Canadia, UK, or EU (plus some others) passport needs to acquire a Dominican Republic visa from their nearest consulate, unless they already hold a US, Canadian, UK or Schengen visa. Venezuelan passport holders with no EU or US visa who don’t possess any of the listed countries’ passports either will need a Dominican Repbulic tourist visa.

Question

Any COVID-19 related requirements?

Answer

This may change, but for now the US requires negative COVID-19 tests when you go back home. You need to have a NEGATIVE test result from a test taken the day before your departure date back to the U.S. or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days, before you can board their flight. Check your country for guidelines if you live outside of the U.S. The resort has free COVID-19 tests that can be sorted out with their staff to ensure you have everything you need when you leave and are allowed to board your flight. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/covid-19_testing_required_US_Entry.html

Question

Do I need to be vaccinated?

Answer

To attend our wedding, we ask that all guests are fully vaccinated to reduce any risk of COVID-19. If this is not something you had planned on doing on your own, we fully understand that it's a personal choice! We love you all and understand if you can't make the wedding due to this reason. We will provide a virtual link for guests who cannot make it.

Question

I can't go to the DR...Is that ok?

Answer

TOTALLY OK. We absolutely do not expect anyone to travel that far for us. We promise you, we love you regardless of your decision!

Question

If I'm in the bridal party (Groomsmen, Bridesmaids), are there any special dates I need to be there/expectations?

Answer

None! You can show up days before the wedding and stay days after, that is up to you as long as you stay the minimum of 3 days! There will be some fun activities for this group Thursday- Sunday and you are invited to attend if you want to partake.
