Powell's City of Books - Downtown - Likely the busiest and biggest bookstore you'll ever visit. Powell's is in the middle of downtown near the best shopping and some great food and it is essential Portland. It covers a city block and four stories and is worth seeing even if you don't buy any books... But you probably will!Learn more.
Washington Park - Downtown - This park features the Oregon Zoo, the Hoyt Arboretum, Rose Garden, a Japanese Garden, and Pittock Mansion - all within walking distance or a minute or two drive. Even in November this is worth seeing!
Forest Park - NW Portland - This is one of the largest urban parks in the world and covers 8 miles and 5,100 acres. There are paved paths for hiking even in the fall and over 70 miles of hiking trails overall. This is minutes from downtown and true to its name truly feels like a forest in the middle of the city
Portland Art Museum - Downtown - It is what you might think - an art museum, but one definitely worth checking out. If you happen to be in town on Thursday the 1st admission will be free from 5:00pm to 8:00pm close!
Pioneer Courthouse Square - Downtown - Portland's "Living Room" and centrally located near shopping and food. Good to check out for a bit before moving on to another destination.
Cathedral Park - North Portland - This park is situated under the shadow of St. John's bridge and provides great views of the bridge and the Willamette river.
SE Hawthorne Blvd. - SE Portland - Walking Hawthorne will give you a great feel for the east side of Portland. One of our favorite places to start is on 30th Ave and SE Hawthorne heading East on Hawthorne but pretty much the entirety of the street until it hits Mt. Tabor Park is worth walking and browsing the eclectic and quirky shops, restaurants, and bars.
SE Division St. - SE Portland - Another fantastic street in SE Portland. Division feels like Hawthorne's grown-up and more expensive sibling. Visit Fifty Licks for the best ice cream in Portland while you're here.
