Our First Date

10.2.19

Zane and I met while attending the University of Arkansas our sophomore year. After exchanging phone numbers and a bit of texting, Zane asked me out on a date. For said date, Zane walked across campus to my sorority house to pick me up. We walked to his car together and, of course, he opened the car door for me. He drove us to Torchy's tacos and we talked about the Enneagram for the majority of our date. After we ate, I told Zane he HAD to try a cookies n' cream milkshake from Chick-fil-a. While we were in line, a few of my sorority sisters ran into us and made sure to make us feel very awkward about being on a date. We sat in a booth and drank our milkshakes then drove around Fayetteville for a bit before Zane needed to leave for church. I begged him to take me with him but he didn't want to have to explain to his friends yet (if you know Zane, this is very on brand). The night ended with him dropping me back off at my sorority house with a hug and going to church alone.

Post First Date

The next day I told Zane I would bring some popcorn to his apartment for a movie date as long as he didn't burn the popcorn. We watched Get Smart at his apartment and ate burnt popcorn. We spent multiple days in a row texting and spending most of our free time together. I would come over and play Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan with him and his roommates. The next week, he took me to church and introduced me to his friends and it turned into a weekly event followed by cherry dipped cones at Dairy Queen. It wasn't long before we both realized that we were spending time with the person we wanted to marry someday.

The Proposal

2.24.22

On a beautiful winter day accompanied by freezing rain and sleet, Zane's original plan to surprise me with an outdoor proposal at Crystal Bridges was reevaluated. Instead, while playing with our dog, Juno, Zane got down on his knee to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together. Tears were obviously shed and a "yes" has never been easier for me to say. Then we were engaged!! We are so excited to share this next chapter in our lives with all of you and can't wait to see you at the wedding!
