Approximately 20 minutes from the venue. This is the easiest airport for reaching the castle, although flight options are more limited.

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Approximately 2-2.5 hours from the venue. Rome offers the greatest number of international flights, including a direct flight from Calgary, making it one of the most convenient choices for many of our guests.

Florence Airport (FLR)

Approximately 2 hours from the venue. A wonderful option if you'd like to spend a few days exploring Florence before travelling to Umbria.

Tren Italia

There are several train options from the main airport in Rome, Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino (FCO) to the two stations nearest the wedding venue, Perugia Ponte S. Giovanni & Bastia. Both stations are about a 20-minute drive to the venue.

Should I rent a car?

A rental car depends on your plans. If you're only attending the wedding events, you likely won’t need one - taxis and public transport from nearby airports are sufficient! However, if you’d like to explore Umbria, Tuscany, or beyond, renting a car is a great option for flexibility. Most rental companies require an International Driving Permit, so we strongly recommend obtaining this if you do plan to rent. You can find out how to obtain one easily, online.

Tolls on Italian Highways

If you do plan to drive your own rental car be aware that Italian highways use tolls called autostrade. Take a ticket when entering the highway, pay at the exit toll booth (cash or card accepted), and avoid “Telepass” lanes unless your rental car is equipped. Make sure to keep your entry ticket handy and follow exit signs carefully, as missed tolls can result in fines sent later.
