Bo and I both went through a one year Christian gap-year program with Impact 360 Institute. He went the year before me so I heard a lot about him and his class throughout my year. There were so many funny stories specifically about him, such as making deer jerky and wine. I actually met him for the first time in February of 2019, but didn’t realize it because when I went up to him and asked, “Are you Bo?” He replied, “No, I’m Christian”. At the time, I didn’t know that Christian went by ‘Bo’, so I awkwardly laughed and walked off. It wasn’t until April 5th that I DMed him on Instagram saying something along the lines of “I’ve heard a lot of funny stories about you and I want to be friends”. He replied, saying “I guess I can’t argue. We can be friends”. That friendship quickly turned into a long distance relationship. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we wanted to marry each other. In fact, on April 27, 2019 I texted my mom, “I’m going to marry this boy”. And here we are!
This whole day was PERFECT! In the morning, Bo dropped me off to get a massage, saying it was my Christmas present. I was in shock and totally thrilled! Later, he picked me up and we went to one of my favorite stores in downtown Athens called Fringe. He told me to pick out any outfit I wanted to wear to dinner, which is when he told me we had reservations at 8. After shopping, he dropped me off at the salon to get my nails done - at this point I had a feeling he was going to propose! After nails, we got Mexican food. By this point it was 3 and Bo had gone home to take a nap, so I started becoming unsure if the proposal was happening since I had always imagined it being during the daytime. Dinner came, and after ordering he said "I'm going to see if some friends want to hang out after dinner". Honestly when he said that I did NOT think the proposal was coming, I even texted two of my bridesmaids Lindsey and Josie to let them know since we had been talking about this weekend for weeks. I was a little sad during dinner because I was SO SURE but didn't tell him that obviously. After dinner he said he wanted to get hot chocolate and walk downtown to look at Christmas lights. Well, no place downtown was open at 10pm so we just started walking. I'm a Florida girl so I get really cold really fast. I kept asking him "Let's just go back to the car it's freezing" but little did I know he was walking the back way to the Georgia theatre so I wouldn't see the proposal sign! After we crossed the street so the Georgia Theatre was behind us, he pointed to the signs down got down on one knee. A photographer and three of our friends came from behind a dumpster and I was in total shock I didn't even know what to say, ha! Bo was teary and it was the sweetest thing ever. I FaceTimed all my people that night to tell them and it was one of the best nights/Christmas gifts ever!
