Things To See and Eat in Sun Valley
Gondola at Sun Valley Resort
Take a scenic gondola ride to the iconic Roundhouse Lodge perched at the top of Bald Mountain. The resort offers mountain bike rentals and transport to the top of the mountain for the adventure seekers! Tickets are required and can be purchased through the Sun Valley Resort website or at the ticket window at the River Run Day Lodge.
Redfish Lake and Day Lodge
Nestled amongst the Sawtooth Mountains, Redfish Lake is a great day trip for those looking to head deep into the mountains for some fun. About one hour from the Sun Valley area, Redfish Lake is one of our favorite summertime hangouts in Idaho and they offer all types of food options, as well as boat rentals.
Sun Valley Club and Golf Course
For the golfers, Sun Valley Resort's courses are definitely ones not to miss! The White Clouds 9 is perched atop the White Cloud Mountains and is Sun Valley's newest course and our top recommendation. The Sun Valley Club offers a great clubhouse setting and food options.
Hikes in the Area
Carbonate Mountain Up early and want to get a your lungs moving? Carbonate Mountain is a great, easy hike in Hailey that has a painted wall half way up and spectacular views of the valley from the top (If you look really hard, you can see Black Bear Ranch in the distance!). Bald Mountain 'Baldy' as the locals call it, is located in Ketchum and is the ski mountain which offers hiking during the summer months. While much steeper than Carbonate, the hike offers some of the best views of the valley if you can make it to the top! Proctor Mountain Loop The location of the very first chairlift (ever!), the Proctor Mountain Loop is approximately 4.5 miles and 1,000 feet of elevation gain but offers great views the entire hike. Dollar Mountain For those who like it difficult but short! Steep elevation gains but the top of the mountain offers 360 degree views of the Wood River Valley.
Breakfast Restaurants
The Kneadery Our favorite breakfast restaurant in town, this iconic log cabin offers your typical mountain breakfast in a great setting. Be sure to take a look at the walls to see some of the animals local to the area, And don't forget to grab your brownie on the way out! Java Located in both Hailey and Ketchum, Java was Shannon's first job when living in Sun Valley. Java offers the best coffee in town, don't leave without trying a Bowl of Soul! The Konditorei Located on the Sun Valley Resort property, The Konditorei is one of the newer restaurants in the valley but has quickly become a locals favorite. A mixed menu of both Austrian-inspired and classic American dishes, there is something on the menu for everyone. If you find yourself here, do not miss the pastry and dessert selection!
Lunch Restaurants
WrapCity Cafe Located at the entrance to Ketchum on Main Street, WrapCity is our go-to when it comes to lunch restaurants. They offer affordable and fresh wraps, bowls, and salads of all kinds. Ketchum Burritos (KBs) The locals burrito shop, Ketchum Burritos offers affordable build your own Mexican options. Located on Sun Valley Road and Main Street in Hailey. We recommend a Joan's Quesadilla! Lefty's The locals burger restaurant, Lefty's in Ketchum offers typical pub fare as well as drinks and good vibes! Take a seat on the patio and soak up the mountain views. Grumpy's We couldn't decide between the two, the other locals burger joint is Grumpy's. Grab a schooner of your favorite beer and enjoy one of the best burgers ever. Sun Valley Club An upscale lunch spot on the Sun Valley Golf Course, this restaurant offers typical American lunch fare with some of the best views in The Valley!
Dinner Restaurants
Pioneer Saloon The most famous restaurant in Ketchum, The Pioneer Saloon sits on Main Street and offers steaks and other western fare. The vibes are all the Western you'd want! Enoteca An intimate Italian restaurant, Enoteca means 'wine library' and is located on Main Street in Ketchum. This is one of David's favorites in the valley and the spot we always take visitors! If you'd like to enjoy, reservations are highly recommended. Ketchum Grill The oldest restaurant in Ketchum, Ketchum Grill is located in the Ed Williams House which was built in 1885. Offering local farm-to-table cuisine, Ketchum Grill is regarded as one of the best Ski Restaurants in the US. CK's Real Food Located in Hailey, CKs offers globally inspired farm-to-table cuisine.
