For the artist

There are many things to do in Guadalajara. Below is my personal list of places worth visiting. Instituto Cultural Cabañas: Est. 1791, it was designed by famous Manuel Tolsa it was originally a hospital, orphanage and almshouse. An Unesco world heritage site which features a series of monumental frescoes by José Clemente Orozco, including one of his most famed creations, the allegory of The Man of Fire. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10AM to 6PM; 70 pesos (less than 4 USD)- Located in the Guadalajara city center. Avenida Chapultepec This pedestrian-friendly boulevard is a walkway in Chapultepec Avenue between Av. Mexico and Av. Washington. Throughout the walkway you will find concrete fountains, sculptures and monuments. In this area you will see bars, cafes, restaurants and many hipsters. It hosts the famous “tianguis” (flea market) every afternoon and evening along with musicians and dancers.

Travel Note

Pueblos Mágicos/ Towns to visit

Tequila- if you are up for it, you can take the Tequila express on Sunday Morning or just visit casa Jose Cuervo. If you go there, try the "cazuelitas". Cazuelitas are a fresh citrus fruit drink with Tequila typically served in a traditional clay pot. Tapalpa- for the wanderers, try to find the "piedrotas". Tonala- great place to buy Mexican art. Mazamitla- cabins in a mild climate, a traditional cobblestone town where you can hike to view the waterfalls.
