FAQs

The Wedding Website of Kate O’Driscoll and Paul Lonieski
We’ve answered some common questions below to help with planning your trip to Santorini. More details will be shared as plans come together.
Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes — a valid passport is required for travel to Greece. Please make sure it does not expire within six months of your travel dates. At this time, U.S. travelers do not need a visa for short stays. However, new EU travel authorization requirements (ETIAS) are expected to roll out soon, so we recommend checking official travel guidance closer to your departure date.

Question

When should we book travel?

Answer

We recommend booking flights and accommodations as early as possible. September is a popular time in Santorini, and hotels and flights tend to fill quickly.

Question

How do I get to Santorini?

Answer

Most international travelers will fly into Athens (ATH) and then connect via a short domestic flight (about 45 minutes) to Santorini (JTR). Ferries are also available from Athens (Piraeus Port) and other islands if you plan to explore more of Greece. We recommend booking your connecting flight or ferry in advance, as routes can fill quickly in September.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

We have arranged a preferred wedding guest rate at Secret View Hotel in Oia. We highly recommend staying here to be close to the celebrations and enjoy the stunning caldera views. Please use the dedicated booking link on the Travel page or enter our discount code 150926KP to receive the preferred rate. We encourage booking early, as September is a popular time in Santorini and rooms may fill quickly.

Question

How to get around?

Answer

Taxis are available but can be limited and expensive, especially during peak times. We recommend arranging transfers in advance through a trusted company or directly through your hotel. For more flexibility, consider renting a car, buggy, ATV, or scooter to explore the island. Booking ahead of time is strongly encouraged, as availability can be limited and prices may increase closer to your travel dates.

Question

When should we RSVP?

Answer

Please let us know your plans by May 15, 2026. We completely understand that destination travel requires planning, but an early response is greatly appreciated so we can finalize details

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

September in Santorini is typically warm and sunny, with cooler evenings. Expect temperatures in the 70s–80s during the day. It stays light later in the evening, and many restaurants and shops are open late, so dinner plans and exploring often happen later in the day. Dress in lightweight, breathable clothing, stay hydrated, and don’t forget sunscreen. Comfortable shoes are a must — the island has lots of uneven cobblestones and steps.

Question

Are there events besides the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We’ll be hosting a welcome gathering and have optional activities planned. Please check the Schedule page for details.

Question

Is there a registry?

Answer

Your presence in Santorini means everything to us. For those who wish to give, we’ve included a first home fund and a few traditional options on our Registry page.

Question

Will my phone work in Greece?

Answer

Most U.S. cell carriers offer international plans. We recommend checking with your provider before traveling to avoid unexpected charges. Wi-Fi is widely available at hotels and restaurants.

Question

What will everyone be doing during the week?

Answer

We’ll have a few planned events and group activities throughout the week, and details will be posted on the Schedule page. You’re more than welcome to join us for as much or as little as you’d like. There’s no pressure — we just want everyone to relax, explore, and have the best time in Santorini.

Question

Are children invited

Answer

We absolutely love your little ones and would be so happy to celebrate with them! Due to space limitations at some of our events, we are initially reserving seats for those listed on your invitation. Once we have a clearer headcount, we’ll gladly reach out if we’re able to extend additional spots for children or plus-ones. We truly appreciate your understanding.
