We used to frequent this space for study sessions as students at Willamette. Now, it's one of our favorite spots for coffee and a bagel in downtown Salem.
Archive is a little taste of Portland in downtown Salem — by day, it's a cozy coffee shop. At night, it's a lively spot for cocktails and a secret speakeasy.
A great spot for lunch or dinner. We recommend the cheese curds!
A casual restaurant with a cozy basement bar. When we lived in Salem, we used to go here to find the elusive Pliny the Elder IPA.
Mere blocks from Paul's office on Willamette's campus, this is his go-to lunch spot during the work week.
This was our favorite local tap house when we lived in West Salem. During the pandemic, this was one of the outdoor spaces where we could enjoy being "out" of the house.
A few blocks from campus, this a good spot for a quick walk in the park. Also the site of Salem's anual Pride celebration. We recommend walking across the bridge into Minto Brown if you have time to spare.
