We are celebrating our marriage within a Traditional High Latin Mass (Catholic). This form of the Mass is rich in symbolism, reverence, and tradition, and it reflects the sacredness we place on marriage. Whether you are Catholic, another Christian, or of a different faith (or none at all), you are warmly welcomed and honored to be part of this day with us. This page is meant to help explain what you will see and hear, and to answer a few common questions.
A Traditional High Latin Mass (also called the Extraordinary Form or Tridentine Mass) is the historic form of the Catholic Mass that has been celebrated for centuries. You may notice that: The prayers are primarily spoken or sung in Latin. Much of the Mass is sung or chanted. The priest often faces the altar rather than the congregation. There are periods of quiet prayer and silence. Even if you do not understand Latin, the structure and symbolism are meant to invite reflection, prayer, and reverence.
Yes. You will be provided with a wedding program that outlines the order of the Mass in English, so you can follow along as much or as little as you’d like. Please also feel free to: Sit, stand, or kneel as you are comfortable. Observe quietly if you prefer. Simply take in the beauty of the ceremony. There is no expectation that you know what to do.
Not at all. All are welcome. Your presence means a great deal to us, and we are grateful you are sharing this sacred moment with us, regardless of your religious background.
During the Traditional High Latin Mass, Holy Communion is received in a specific and reverent manner that reflects long-standing Catholic tradition. Communicants approach the communion rail. Communion is received while kneeling. The Host is received on the tongue only. This practice is followed by all who receive Communion during the Mass. If you are not Catholic, not prepared to receive Communion, or simply prefer not to receive, please remain seated or kneeling in your pew during this time. This is completely normal and fully respected. There is no expectation or pressure for anyone to receive Communion, and no one will feel out of place if they do not participate.
If you are Catholic and planning to receive Communion, we kindly ask that you observe this traditional manner of reception during our wedding Mass. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us preserve the reverent character of the liturgy.
Silence is an intentional and beautiful part of this form of the Mass. These quiet moments are meant to encourage personal prayer and reflection. If it feels unfamiliar, please know that silence here is not awkward. It is sacred.
A Traditional High Latin Wedding Mass typically lasts about 60 to 75 minutes. We appreciate your patience and presence as we celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage in its fullest and most solemn form.
There is nothing special you need to bring or do. Dress respectfully, as you would for a church wedding. Feel free to follow along or simply observe. Participate only to the extent you feel comfortable. Your respectful presence is more than enough.
For us, this form of the Mass emphasizes: The sacredness of marriage. A deep sense of reverence and tradition. A focus on prayer and worship rather than performance. We wanted our wedding to be first and foremost an act of worship and gratitude, and this form of the Mass reflects that intention.

April in Florida is generally warm, pleasant, and one of the most comfortable times of year to visit. You can typically expect: Daytime temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. Evenings that are mild, often in the 60s. Low humidity compared to summer months. Plenty of sunshine. Rain is possible, but April is usually part of Florida’s drier season, so showers tend to be brief rather than all day events. We recommend light, breathable clothing for daytime, and a light jacket or wrap for the evening, especially if you tend to get cool indoors or after sunset. Comfortable shoes are also a good idea if you plan to be outside. Overall, April weather in Florida is ideal for travel and outdoor activities.
The wedding venue, Lake Mary Events Center, is located inland in Central Florida. The closest beaches are on the Atlantic coast and are about a 45 to 60 minute drive by car, depending on traffic and which beach you choose. Popular nearby options include Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Cocoa Beach, all of which are easy day trips. In April, ocean water temperatures along Florida’s east coast are typically in the low to mid 70s Fahrenheit. Many visitors find this comfortable for swimming, especially on warm days, though some may consider it slightly cool at first. Beaches are generally less crowded than in summer, and weather conditions are usually pleasant. If you plan to visit the beach, we recommend bringing sunscreen, light layers for breezy days, and allowing extra travel time if visiting on a weekend.
The wedding venue, Lake Mary Events Center, is located in Central Florida, about a 45 to 60 minute drive from the major theme parks, depending on traffic and the specific park you visit. Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are both located southwest of Lake Mary, while SeaWorld is in the same general area. Travel times can be longer during peak hours, especially mornings and late afternoons, so we recommend allowing extra time. For guests visiting around the weekend before or after the wedding, there are usually seasonal events happening at the parks: At Walt Disney World, EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival typically runs from early spring through late May. This festival features elaborate floral displays, outdoor kitchens with seasonal food, live music on select days, and a relaxed atmosphere that many adult guests enjoy. Universal Orlando Resort often offers seasonal events or limited time celebrations in the spring, depending on the year. These may include themed entertainment, special food offerings, or extended park hours. If you are planning a theme park visit: Purchase tickets in advance. Arrive early to avoid crowds and heat. Wear comfortable shoes and plan for a full day of walking. Check park calendars for event schedules and hours. Theme parks are a fun option if you are extending your trip, but they are not required to enjoy Central Florida. There are also great restaurants, shopping areas, natural springs, and beaches within easy driving distance if you prefer a more relaxed experience.
