Our Story

Paul grew up in Manns Choice, PA loving & playing football for Chestnut Ridge High School. After high school, he joined the Navy Reserves. Paul grew up knowing and loving Jesus, forming a relationship with Him that would end up expanding into deeper territories of his life in college. Paul is currently studying Electro-mechanical Engineering Technology at Penn State Altoona. Abi grew up in Davidsville, PA with a passion for music and love for people. She grew up in the Mennonite church, but never fully grasped what a relationship with God was really like. She made decisions that led her far from Jesus. In April of 2017, Abi had a supernatural encounter with Jesus that changed every part about her. She began living life differently as God redeemed her brokenness, and she understood what it meant to be radically loved and pursued by the living God. Abi & Paul attend The Vineyard Church, where Abi has begun stepping into her calling as a pastor. Abi is currently studying Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State World Campus & works as a social worker for Family Intervention Crisis Services. Paul and Abi both attended Penn State Altoona and got to know each other through a Christian organization on campus. Through the "setting up" of their mutual friend, Joe Lent, they began dating on May 15, 2017. Paul and Abi aspire to live a life bringing the Kingdom of God here on earth. They believe with all their hearts that lacking Jesus means they're lacking everything. To them, marriage is far more than about each other. Marriage is about Jesus coming for His bride; Jesus looking at His bride when she was at her worst and rescuing her. They welcome you to this page, to this engagement season, to this wedding, and to their marriage. You weren't invited to be a seat filler or out of obligation. You were invited because they love you and trust you to walk with them in their marriage. They feel so honored to be loved by each of you.

The Proposal

10.5.18

Paul met with Mark Cable at a coffee shop in Abi's hometown to ask Mark if he could marry Abi. Before Paul could get the words out, Abi's dad said, "You don't need to ask me this. You already know my answer." (which was yes, by the way.) That evening, Paul took Abi to their favorite restaurant in Bedford, the Jean Bonnet. Abi had no idea he had the ring in his pocket the entire time. After dinner, Paul took Abi to the spot in a field where they had their first kiss and many deep, hard, spiritual conversations. Under the stars, Paul told Abi all the things he loves about her; all the things that make her who she is, all the things that set her apart and make her valuable not only to himself, but to the world. He got down on one knee and asked Abi to marry him. Abi's first response was ".....CAN YOU ASK ME THAT ONE MORE TIME PLEASE." The moment was so perfect that she wanted to hear it again. She said yes.
