During the Sikh Ceremony, guests will be seated on the floor per tradition. While this ceremony is formal, we also encourage you to wear your comfier suits and dresses or opt for Indian attire. Women will typically wear a formal Anarkali, Salwaar Kameez, Sharara or Gharara. Men will wear formal Kurta Pajamas, Sherwanis or even suits. It is Sikh tradition to have your head covered during the ceremony so be sure to bring a Dupatta (women's scarf). Men will be provided Ramalas at the event (headscarves that are similar to bandanas).
When purchasing Indian attire please expect a 6-10 week delivery window as most outfits are made in and shipped from India. It's also not unusual to get clothing tailored after receiving it so that it fits exactly to your body. Women and men can find Indian attire at any local Indian stores or any of the following websites: https://www.perniaspopupshop.com/ https://www.kalkifashion.com/ https://www.azafashions.com/ https://peacelily.ca https://thesareeroom.com https://www.seasonsindia.com/ https://www.cbazaar.com Etsy is also a great place to find Indian attire and Pinterest has a lot of great inspiration.
No, as we would love to see you in Indian attire, this is not necessary. For women, please feel free to wear a midi/maxi-length dress. Please try and stay away from strapless dresses. Also, we will still need you to cover your head with a Dupatta (women's scarf). As for men, you can simply wear a suit!
Both events will be unplugged ceremonies, which means no photos or videos! Please respect our wishes as we have hired a very talented photographer and videographer to capture our day. We promise to share photos and videos once we receive them. After the ceremonies, have a blast and take all the photos you want at the cocktail hour + reception.
Yes, Semi-Formal! We recommend suit and tie & cocktail dresses. Additionally, the reception will be on a grass lawn so ladies please wear comfy heels!
Your presence is a gift in itself so, no gifts are needed!
