Airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) – Closest option (about 15 minutes from downtown). Directly connected to the Metro! Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) – About 40–45 minutes from the city; great for international or West Coast flights. Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) – About 50 minutes from D.C.; often has budget-friendly fares. 🛫 Flight Tip: Since it’s Memorial Day weekend, we recommend booking flights early for the best rates and times.

🚗 Getting Around

Washington, D.C. is very walkable and well-connected by Metro, but… 👉 We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore beyond the city (like Arlington, Alexandria, Georgetown waterfront, or Great Falls Park). Other options: Metro: Safe, reliable, and easy to use — grab a reloadable SmarTrip card. Rideshare: Uber/Lyft are everywhere. Scooters/Bikes: Capital Bikeshare and electric scooters are available citywide.

There’s so much happening in D.C. this weekend — from iconic monuments to special events honoring our nation’s heroes. 🖼️ Sightseeing Musts Walk the National Mall — Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, WWII Memorial, and more. Explore the Smithsonian Museums (all free!) — Air & Space, Natural History, and African American History are favorites. Stroll through Georgetown Waterfront for great restaurants and sunset views. 🌳 Local Gems Eastern Market: Weekend farmers market and local art vendors. Union Market: Trendy food hall with rooftop views. Rock Creek Park: Perfect for a morning jog or picnic. The Wharf: Waterfront dining, live music, and boat rentals.
