Moderate difficulty hike to another amazing lake. Take Highway 75 about 15 miles to Baker Creek Road. After 6 miles turn right onto Forest Road 170 (there will be signs for Norton Creek). There is an upper and a lower lake, and you have the option to continue on and hike a loop, passing several more lakes including Big Lost Lake on the way back to the trailhead. The loop is a much more technical hike!
Redfish Lake is a must see if you have the chance. Just over an hour's drive north of Ketchum. The drive will take you over Galena Summit and along the Salmon River in the Stanley Basin with great views of the Sawtooth Mountain Range. Redfish has great beaches for swimming, lots of hiking around the lake, and a big expansive lake to get out on the water. Redfish Lodge has music on the lawn in front of the lake many evenings throughout the Summer, and you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, etc. https://redfishlake.com/activities/music-at-redfish/
Short, very easy hike with beautiful views. A 30 minute drive north from Ketchum gets you to the Titus Lake trailhead, just before Galena Summit. Continue your drive up to the Summit after the hike to get a great view of the Sawtooth Mountains and Stanley Basin.
Mostly shady 3.5 mile hike to a great lookout over the valley - great on a hot day. If you're up for it, keep going to get to Roundhouse restaurant (see recommendation further down).
Nice trail close to town for walking/hiking.
Walking/hiking trail following the Big Wood River
Great hike for a quick workout right in town. Get in about 1,000 vertical feet in a 3.5 mile loop with great views of town and Bald Mountain. Also part of Proctor is Rudd Mountain — the first ski lift in the USA is there!
We've mentioned a few favorites, but there are way too many great hikes to list. Stanley is on the other side of Galena Pass, about 1 hour north of Ketchum. This town is close to the Sawtooth Mountains, which have unbelievable hikes, lakes, and views. Stanley is a great place to stop for breakfast or lunch (try Stanley Baking Company & Café!) on your way into or out of the mountains.
Biking is a great way to get around Ketchum/Sun Valley and the Wood River Valley. There are bike trails everywhere!
Favorite fly fishing shop. Stop by here to get your fishing license and buy some flies!
Bowling alley at Sun Valley Lodge!
Roundhouse is a restaurant on Bald Mountain, the ski mountain in Sun Valley, open for lunch in the summers on Thursdays-Mondays. From Roundhouse, you can enjoy stunning views over the valley and the surrounding mountain ranges! You can purchase a gondola ticket up (starting June 26), or you can earn your lunch and hike up! The gondola ride down is free. To hike: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/idaho/roundhouse-via-bald-mountain-trail (and remember you can save your knees and take the gondola down!)
