The day after our wedding is a Carolina Football game and there's nothing quite like an SEC Football game! Catch this once in a decade game between the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and Costal Carolina's Chanticleers.
Nestled between some of the oldest buildings in Columbia is were our great college had it's start. Enter through the classically southern gates to see the perfect example of southern charm and architecture that will surround you on all sides especially as the fall leaves begin to change. The historic horseshoe has been home to Civil War time hospitals, USC Student parties and protests, and is conveniently located across the street from our favorite lunch spots, Beezer's and Tio's. This shoe may feel different from the one in Columbus, but is no less beautiful.
Home to many of our anniversary dates, the State Museum honors the extremely rich and diverse history of South Carolina and the Continental United States. Both EdVenture and the SC State Museum are conveniently located across the street from the hotel.
If you're looking for a REALLY good bite to eat in town City Limits will not disappoint. It has become one of our go-to barbecue spots in Columbia, and if you have the time to get there EARLY, like 45 minutes before they open, they have some excellent food to blow you away with. Grab a beer, get a dirty chop sandwich, and some cornbread and prepare to be blown away.
Our other go-to barbecue restaurant in Columbia, if you want barbecue done in the most traditional and flavorful manner possible, Hite's will not disappoint. They're well priced and if you walk in and get a tray, we almost promise you won't finish it all.
If you fancy a burger, fried chicken, or an ice cream cone, come give Zestos a visit. Under the big ice cream cone in Triangle City, it's hard to miss. While we had it as kids, on our own we've been coming here since high school and have spent plenty of time here since. We typically split a White Meat Dinner, but a chicken strip basket or Zesto burger won't do you wrong either.
DeLucca's is our favorite Italian restaurant in the midlands, and maybe even the state. You can be sure to find an excellent selection of wine which can be paired with your favorite Italian comfort food. Be sure to save room for their tiramisu or limoncello cake afterwards!
