We recommend checking out www.HikingUpward.com for further descriptions of the hikes, including difficulty, views, and trail maps. Here are a few of our favorites/recommendations. 1. Humpback Mountain is a quick (yet steep!) ~1 mile hike up to BEAUTIFUL views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Best "bang for your buck" hike. 2. Old Rag (in Shenandoah National Park) is one of the quintessential Virginia hikes, but often a whole day adventure. 3. Spy Rock & The Priest - Amazing views but a little farther out from Charlottesville. 4. Saunders-Monticello Trail - nice relaxing trail up to Monticello. 5. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park - great for getting the views without the workout if you've spent too much energy out on the dance floor :) 6. Hot Yoga Cville (okay, not hiking, but active!) - the yoga studio Martha went to while in medical school
1. Tour of the UVA Campus - walk around "the lawn" (aka the quad), the Rotunda, and all the beautiful scenery of the campus 2. Check out the shops, restaurants, bars, etc on the Downtown Mall 3. Monticello - home of Thomas Jefferson 4. Montpelier - home of James Madison (go Dukes!) 5. Fralin Art Museum - Free museum at UVA with rotating artist displays. https://uvafralinartmuseum.virginia.edu/ 6. IX Park (right by Three Notch'd) has lots of funky outdoor art to see 7. Paramount Theater & The Jefferson on the Downtown mall have a variety of performances/movies/concerts
BREAKFAST: - Bodo's Bagels (bagels great, but we don't recommend the coffee) - Grit Cafe, Milli Coffee Roasters, Shenandoah Joes, or Snowing in Space (cold brew) for coffee - Tip Top Diner (short drive from the hotels, but a frequent weekend stop!) LUNCH/GRAB & GO: - Feast is a small grocery great for grab and go sandwiches (and free samples!), especially if you're headed out for a hike - Littlejohns - local favorite that temporarily shut down due to the pandemic and we're so excited it's back! - Roots - salads/bowls, becoming a more national chain but started here in Charlottesville! DINNER/SIT DOWN: - Brazo's Tacos - in IX park, our first date spot! - Citizen Burger or Jack Brown's - Maya - The Local
