Chipinque is a beautiful nature reserve located just above San Pedro, perfect for escaping into the mountains while still being close to the city. It offers a range of hiking trails—from easy scenic walks to more challenging routes—with incredible views of Monterrey. Along the way, you may spot local wildlife such as deer, coatis, squirrels, and a variety of birds. Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance, as access is limited and they do check reservations at the entrance.
Paseo Santa Lucía is a beautiful man-made canal that connects downtown Monterrey to Parque Fundidora. It’s perfect for a relaxed stroll along the water, with scenic views, fountains, and spots to stop along the way. You can also take a boat ride through the canal, which is a fun and easy way to see the area and learn a bit about the city. It’s especially nice in the late afternoon or evening when the weather cools down and the lights come on.
Fashion Drive is a modern, upscale shopping center with a mix of international brands, restaurants, and great spots for drinks.
Arboleda offers a more open-air, walkable setting with beautiful architecture, boutiques, and some of our favorite restaurants.
If you have time to explore Monterrey’s cultural side, we recommend visiting a couple of its standout museums: MARCO (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey) – One of Latin America’s leading contemporary art museums, featuring rotating exhibitions and a beautiful, modern space. Address: Juan Zuazua & Padre Raymundo Jardón S/N, Centro, 64000 Monterrey, N.L. Museo de Historia Mexicana – A great place to learn more about Mexico’s history, with engaging exhibits that walk you through the country’s past and culture. Address: Dr. José Ma. Coss 445 Sur, Centro, 64000 Monterrey, N.L. Both are located near downtown and can easily be paired with a visit to Paseo Santa Lucía for a nice afternoon.
