Flight
Italy Airports
Italy has two major international airports that service non-stop and direct flights from the U.S.. These airports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome, and Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) in Milan. If you are starting or ending your Italian vacation in Northern Italy we recommend flying in/out of Milan. If you are starting or ending your Italian vacation in central or southern Italy, we recommend flying in/out of Rome.
Flight
Tuscany Airports
To travel directly to Tuscany, we recommend one of two Airports: Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR) in Florence or Pisa International Airport (PSA) in Pisa. Both airports are within a 40 minute - 1 hour drive of our venue in Lucca, Tuscany. They also can be reached by all major cities in Europe if you plan on starting your European summer in a different country, or can be reached with a connecting flight if starting at an American airport.
Train
Train
The Italian train system is highly efficient and goes throughout the country. Trenitalia operates out of several airports including Florence, Pisa, and Rome. Florence to Lucca by train is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Pisa to Lucca by train is 50 minutes. Rome to Lucca by train is 3 hours and 30 minutes. You have the ability to pre-book your train tickets online, if you'd like. Booking opens 120 days before your date of travel. You can also purchase train tickets at the station, but may pay a slightly higher fare.

L'Arancera di Villa Grabau
While we wish we had enough space for everyone to stay with us at L'Arancera, we will only be able to host a limited amount of people. We will have notified those in advance who will be staying at L'Arancera. Please see below for additional close by options. *** Check in at L'Arancera di Villa Grabau is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Daily breakfast will start each morning at 7:45/8:00am and will consist of sweet and savory options served buffet style, specifically: milk (plus vegetable options), coffee, orange juice, yogurt, cereals, jams, bread, butter, croissants, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, and their typical “Valdostana”, a savory pie with cooked ham, mozzarella and tomato (this needs to be ordered for the full house). Check out will be between 8:00am and 10:00am on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Hotel
Hotel Villa Casanova
Kamil and I stayed at Hotel Villa Casanova during our last visit to Italy and it was easily one of our favorite hotels. The villa is peaceful and elegant surrounded by nature, featuring a panoramic terrace and swimming pool. We have set aside a room block for our guests from April 29 through May 2. Breakfast is included. This hotel is about a 30 minute drive from L'Arancera and 20 minute drive to the city of Lucca. We recommend renting a car if you plan on staying here. Hotel Ilaria is a comfortable and central hotel, offering a sun deck, excellent service, and modern rooms within the walls of Lucca and walking distance to many wonderful shops and restaurants. We have set aside a room block for our guests from April 29 through May 2. Breakfast is included. This hotel is a 15 minute drive from L'Arancera. Travel Note
Taxi Information
We highly recommend downloading and setting up the App Taxi to your phone, as this is Italy's version of Uber, BEFORE traveling as the apps may not be able to be set up properly with a US number while in Italy. This allows you to book taxis on demand or in advance.
Rental Car
Car Rental
The most common companies to rent cars are Avis, Budget, Hertz and Europcar. It is recommended to book in advance online. Transportation will be provided to all guests to/from the wedding venue that are staying in one of the recommended accommodations above. However, you are more than welcome to rent your own car to do sight-seeing and for ease of getting to different areas in Italy or to explore the Tuscan countryside (make sure to specify manual vs automatic when renting it!). If renting a vehicle, please keep in mind that some of the country side roads are very narrow and are more suited for compact cars. Also, please make sure to look up Italy parking rules to avoid any tickets!
