Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Patricia Vogelsinger and Kamil Madey
Among the many breathtaking places to visit in Tuscany, Lucca stands out as a fairy-tale like city with its towering Renaissance walls encircling its historic city center. From strolling within the city walls surrounded by the Apuan Alps and Pisan Mountain Range to exploring the Versailles-inspired gardens and sipping on local Tuscan wines, below is a list of activities to do or nearby areas to visit.

Walk or Bike Lucca City Walls

Lucca, Tuscany 55100, Italy

Lucca’s historic city walls form a 3-mile loop that completely encircles the city that you can walk or rent a bike around. The path is also lined with a cafè, gelato carts, and water fountains, and is a wonderful way to get bird’s-eye views over Lucca’s rooftops and beyond to the surrounding hills. Since Lucca is a big biking town, there are numerous shops throughout the historic Cori center where you can rent a bike for a few euros.

Torre Guingi

Via Guinigi, 29, Lucca, 55100, Italy

A long climb up that is worth it for a breathtaking view of Lucca!

Sottosotto

Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, 1, Lucca, 55100, Italy

One of our favorite restaurants in the heart of Lucca! We recommend putting in a reservation to dine here. The gnocchi was incredible (surely several of you have heard Patricia rave about it) and the tiramisu was absolute perfection. The food paired along with dining outside in the Piazza del Anfiteatro made the evening an unforgettable one.

Momo Gelati

Via della Fratta, 11, Lucca, 55100, Italy

We cannot wait to go here again for gelato the next time we are back in Lucca! And, we might be a little extra partial to the place since it shares the same nickname as one of our pups. ;)

Ristorante All'Olivo

V. dell'Arancio, 38, Lucca, 55100, Italy

If you decide to make a reservation here, we recommend dining inside due to the elegant ambience filled with a vast array of wine bottles on display. The meals were delicious and their pistachio tiramisu will have us coming back again one day soon.

Bar Del Sole Di Marcone Monica

Via Antonio Mordini, Gia Via Nuova, 13, Lucca, 55100, Italy

We highly recommend stopping by here one afternoon for spritzes and arancini!

Chiasso13

Chiasso Barletti, 13, Lucca, 55100, Italy

We did not have a chance to visit here on our last trip but it came highly recommended as a stylish bistro offering evolving, high-quality cuisine in a trendy, intimate alley setting inside Lucca's walls.
