There are tons of amazing hikes around Denver for all experience levels. We recommend downloading the AllTrails app (available on Apple and Google Play) to filter hikes by location, length, difficulty, and landscape. AllTrails has recent reviews from other hikers, including photos, to give you an idea of trail conditions, when to arrive, and what to expect. Some of our local favorites: - North Table Mountain - Fowler Trail to Rattlesnake Gulch - Mount Galbraith - Mount Falcon
Golden Gate Canyon State Park is another favorite location of ours. While there is a $12 entry fee, it is well worth it for the amazing hikes and landscapes you can experience!
Roughly 1h30m from Denver, Estes Park is the town that acts as a gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park. RMNP operates on a timed entry system ever since the pandemic, so if visiting this incredible national park is on your "to-do" list, you'll need to reserve your entry about a month in advance. Starting August 1, 2026 you can reserve your entry into RMNP for the month of September. Don't delay...these time slots fill up quickly!
Visiting Red Rocks is a must in your lifetime! Even if you can't make it to a show, we HIGHLY recommend going there to walk the venue (often times open to the public until 2:00pm on the day of a show). Thursday - 9.17.26 - GET THE LED OUT (Led Zeppelin Cover Band) Sunday - 9.20.26 - Andrea Bocelli Monday - 9.21.26 - Andrea Bocelli
The Colorado Rockies play at home during the week of our wedding! They face the San Diego Padres Monday through Thursday (9/14/26 - 9/17/26) and then face the Seattle Mariners Friday through Sunday (9/18/26 - 9/20/26). Lucky for you, they haven't been the best in recent years...which means extremely affordable tickets ($20-$30). The stadium (Coors Field) is in the heart of the River North (RiNo) district of downtown, with an abundance of shops, bars, and restaurants in the area. The 2026 NFL schedule has not yet been released at the time of writing this, but it is possible that the Denver Broncos will be playing a home game on Sunday 9/20/26. Check NFL schedules in mid-May to see if you have the opportunity to see the Broncos live during your trip to the Mile-High city.
Roughly 1h20m from Denver, Kenosha Pass is a world-renown location for viewing the incredible fall foliage that Colorado has to offer.
That photo you see at the top of this page (taken 09/26/25)...that's from the Abyss Lake Trail hike on Guanella Pass and is only about 2 miles from the trailhead/start of the hike. Even if you aren't in the mood for a hike or don't want to get up early to secure parking at the trailhead, driving Guanella Pass is highly recommended! Don't forget to stop in Georgetown, located at the foot of the pass, to get a feel for an 1800's gold-rush town.
A local-favorite coffee shop in Olde Town Arvada.
If you're looking for a leisurely walk, we highly recommend checking out any of these options: - Clear Creek Canyon (paved path along the creek in Golden) - The Greenbelt (paved path adjacent to a crushed gravel path) - Standley Lake (beach vibes, dirt paths around the area, and great views of the Front Range)
