How we met

Blind date EEK!

In her words: I was at dinner with my parents one night and my mom casually mentioned over dinner "how would you feel about a blind date? I may have set you up on one" a few weeks earlier she attended the John Mayer concert at Red Rocks with Heather (Salina's {Mom's best friend's} sister in law) Heather's cousins (Ty {Nick's best friends}) wife, Joslin, was there and the story goes Mom was talking about Kim and it hit them, Joslin suggested they hook up their good friend Nick with Kim, they would get along great, had a lot in common and neither of them want to be on dating websites to find someone. Fast forward to dinner, Mom goes on to tell the story and explains a little about this guy...he likes to road bike and he traveled in Asia for 3 months so he likes Asians (not creepy at all) she continued to pull up his profile on Facebook and show me pictures because in true mom style she already FB stalked him for me. I reluctantly agree. So mom sends Heather a text with my phone number and says give it to Nick and have him call her! Here's where it gets entertaining, Mom gave Heather the wrong phone number! So Nick called some old lady and was so confused and mortified that he had the wrong number! We finally got it all straightened out, he text and mentioned that he was going out of town but when he got back he would give me a call and we could get coffee. (I was just impressed that he had the balls to literally call the random phone number he was given and ask a gal out) he called and we were setting up our coffee date only to find out we both worked in Cherry Creek so we decided to skip over coffee straight on to dinner, we ate at Kitchen Next Door and immediately hit it off. I was pretty nervous but once we got to talking it was very comfortable! From that night on there have only been a handful of nights we have not talked on the phone or days we have not texted....and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Exciting things happen on vacation

A trip to Thailand was planned for April 2016 with a layover in Tokyo! Since Nick spent a few months in Asia he decided to take Kim to experience all the excitement of Thailand, one of his favorite places. On our way to Thailand we planned a day and a half layover in Tokyo where we stayed at the Westin Tokyo, where we had a surprisingly fancy room. Nick had planned a jam packed day of sight seeing but he also had something else planned. (Looking back on it he was overly cautious about keeping the lock on his backpack, I wonder what was hiding in there) Unfortunately the evening we arrived it was raining and it put a damper on his plans to take me to a beautiful garden to pop the question. We did a little night time adventure to eat and then planned to wake up the next day and go non-stop, which we did. We spent all day exploring Tokyo and sightseeing and finally decided to head back to the hotel to cleanup and head to the Park Hyatt Tokyo (The Lost in Translation hotel) for drinks. I hopped in the shower and when I got out he was pacing in the living area, acting very odd. He then went into his spiel, most of what I remember was how he could not imagine his life without me and then he pulled out the little blue box! I was not expecting this AT ALL and the rest is history! We continued on with our plans for the evening and enjoyed ourselves at the Park Hyatt, where I got to sit in the same seat as Bill Murray! I sent a text to my mom and it was the middle of the night back home that just had a photo of my hand! She saw it and was shocked, she knocked my dad awake showing him the photo and asked DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS? To which he responded, oh yeah, Nick called me and asked me a couple days ago. And in true mom fashion, she said AND YOU DIDNT TELL ME?

For all the days along the way
