A Weekend to Remember

September 11-13, 2026

As we begin our new life together, we invite you to a weekend celebration filled with love, dancing, and our favorite wines! For more event details, kindly visit the Itinerary page.

How We Met

We met each other at Ohio University on September 11, 2016, during the first meeting of the school year for a finance group we had recently joined. We became close friends as we worked together in the group, took classes together, and frequented the bars and house parties off campus. We remained close friends for the next two and a half years, until we started dating in December 2018.

Our Journey

After Jacob graduated in May 2019, he moved to Cleveland to start a job at KeyBank while Morgan moved to NYC for an internship at Citi and then returned to Athens to finish a final semester and graduate in December 2019. We made the distance work with lots of phone calls, Facetimes, and by frequently visiting each other. After Morgan graduated, we moved to NYC in February 2020 so Morgan could begin her career. We expected to have a large base of mutual friends from OU, though Covid hit three weeks later, causing the city to lockdown and many of them to move back home for a few months or more. During that time, we spent nearly 24/7 together in a 500sqft apartment - forcing us to get to know each other really, really well. After spending a year in our tiny apartment, we capitalized on the Covid discounts and moved to a nicer apartment in the financial district, where we continue to live today. We continue to love the city and all it has to offer. We enjoy the friends we have made and the friends from OU that remain, the limitless restaurant options for date nights, the access to multiple airports that make traveling home and abroad easy, and that friends and family are always excited to visit.

The Proposal

During the summer of 2024, while staying with his family between jobs, Jacob started shopping for the ring and planning the proposal. With the help of his family, and a single screenshot of a non-engagement ring Morgan had liked more than five years earlier, he found a ring he thought she would love. It looked nothing like the photo. Jacob called Morgan's parents a couple days before he intended to propose and was graciously supported by each of them. On the Friday of Labor Day weekend, the time had finally arrived, but the ring, which was being customized, had not. We were planning to drive to upstate NY to get out of the city and were leaving early that afternoon. The ring finally arrived 10 minutes before Morgan got home from a half-day of work. She saw Jacob throwing away the USPS box it had been shipped in, but luckily didn't suspect anything. Morgan's Mom and Sister were planning to meet us on a hike, where Jacob planned to propose. We were then planning to have a small cookout at our Airbnb to celebrate, though Morgan was unaware of these plans. As we drove out of the city Jacob accidentally let it slip that he hoped it wouldn't be an issue for our host that we had more than just us at the Airbnb. Morgan caught the slip, but Jacob was able to write it off as being distracted while driving out of the city. On Saturday, September 1, 2024, we went to a state park for a small hike. The parking lot was completely full due to the holiday weekend, so we parked on the side of the road. At the end of the hike, there was a scenic overlook where Morgan's Mom and Sister were going to meet us. The trail was not as easy or short as advertised. By the time we got to the overlook we were hot and sweaty - not ideal for engagement photos. Morgan's Mom and Sister were slightly delayed due to parking, so Jacob stalled by "taking in the view" for way longer than was necessary. When they arrived, Morgan was completely surprised as Jacob took her by her hand to the spot he had scoped out to propose. He got down on one knee, and after a few statements of disbelief, Morgan said "Yes!" We celebrated with some champagne and then took the long walk back to our cars. Since we had parked on the side of the road, our car had been towed... Luckily Morgan's mom was able to drive us to the police department to pick it up. We celebrated by grabbing dinner at a local restaurant, since we were too tired to cookout.
