Inae and Paras met on Hinge in the summer of 2024 (turns out dating apps do work after all!) Inae and Paras started their life together the old fashioned way -- with a phone call. They talked about how Inae was returning from a kayaking trip in New Jersey, how Paras was obsessed with narrative podcasts (any Serial or Suave fans out there?), and about their favorite foods and New York haunts. Inae hung up when she had to pick up her laundry, but they met two days later for their first date. That date was amid the tangy, spicy, and fragrant flavors of a Thai restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Inae ordered her go-to, Pad Thai with shrimp, and Paras had Pad See Ew with tofu. Like the two noodle dishes, Inae and Paras thought they could be a good fit. Inae and Paras had two more dates that week -- a stroll in Central Park and a drive to JFK airport when Inae, fresh off a shift in the ICU, insisted on dropping Paras off for a flight. A few weeks later, Paras, ever the romantic, asked Inae to be his girlfriend over the phone as she cooked chicken for dinner (smooooth!) Luckily, Inae said yes, and Paras followed up with a proper date and flowers when he returned to New York. In the past year-and-a-half, Inae and Paras have grown into adventure buddies (their list of travels includes Boston, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Monterey, Philly, D.C., Los Angeles, and Hawaii), museum muses (they love the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum and Monet in MoMA), and book besties (Inae loves reading about science and medicine while Paras listens to sci-fi and fantasy). Inae and Paras come from different cultures and continents. But despite all their differences, they bring out the best in each other and find what connects them together (the one exception is Monopoly Deal, where all bets are off). They push each other to be better, laugh harder, smile wider, and love deeper. Inae and Paras have also enjoyed getting to know each other's families, with Inae visiting Paras' parents and sister in California and talking on the phone nearly every day and Paras chatting with Inae's parents and siblings on KakaoTalk.
