Our wedding will revolve around the town of Naousa. It's a quaint, beautiful, seaside village with a vibrant nightlife and local food. Get lost in the labyrinth-like white alleys, while exploring the many shops of local artisans. There's two ports and multiple beaches. You can also grab a water taxi to all the major beaches of the islands from here. Pro tip : Walk all the way up to the church, for an immersive experience.
Parikia is the capital of Paros, and also where you'll land with the ferry. At first, it won't look like much. But as you make your way past the city square and into the alleys, you'll discover a large labyrinth of white streets covered by trees and flowers. This town is a little more touristy than Naousa, with less beach access due to the boats. It has a lot of charm though once you explore it, and particularly good if you wished Naousa was a little larger in terms of shopping and wandering.
In the center of the island there is a mountain village called Lefkes. It's accessible by bus, but we reccomend renting a quad, a scooter, or a car. Walk through the streets to the church at the very top, where you can sip on some greek coffee or eat some local meats. Alternatively, you can hike the Historic Byzantine Path.
Our favorite beach, Monastiri is covered by the wind and extends deep into the ocean at waist height. It has a fully furnished beach club where you can rent day beds, and dine on the beach. You can take a beach taxi here back and forth to Naousa, or you can ride a scooter/ATV/car for about 10-15 min from Naousa.
For more of a party vibe, check out Santa Maria. Situated 10 minutes from Naoussa in the northeast of the Island, Santa Maria is set amongst a series of calm coves, hidden away from the hustle of Paros. The beach is mostly taken up by beach beds (from €20), serviced by the surrounding tavernas, so those wanting a ‘free’ spot to lay their towel might struggle a little here. However, there is a small section to the right of the beach to lay your towel and bathe.
Picturesque Kolymbithres is set amongst a unique, moon-esque landscape west of Naoussa. As with most Greek beaches, there are tavernas nearby and a couple of beach clubs if you wish to relax in comfort. For those wishing to just bathe, you’ll need to get there early to snap up your own piece of sand/rock.
Consider taking a boat tour to Antiparos, the island in front of Paros, where Tom Cruise has his vacation home. The tours will take you to multiple bathing spots, grill on the boat, play traditional music and bring you back. Additionally you can search Airbnb Experiences for culinary classes, marble carving, wine tasting and much more!
We highly recommend renting a quad/ATV bike! They are very cheap, have storage for your daily needs, and allow you explore everything the island has to offer. While there is relatively good bus transportation and water taxis, they run on their own schedule, go to limited locations, and typically you'll have to leave the beach much earlier than preferred. Additionally the island rents Buggies (small cars) scooters, vespas, and you can also find full cars to rent, although more rare. PS - Get an international license at your local AAA! It takes 15 minutes! They might not rent to you otherwise! Lastly, we suggest renting inside the town of Naousa if you don't rent a car. As the rental offices don't do drop offs in different towns, if you don't rent inside Naousa you'll be forced to figure out how to transport your luggage on an ATV.
