SFO is the closest airport to fly into. You can either cab into the city (around $40 + tip), take an Uber/Lyft (around $35) or take the AirTrain (free) to the Bart Station, which has trains going to different parts of the city (around $9 one way).

The Oakland Airport is also an option to fly into. There's a shuttle from the airport to the Oakland Airport/Coliseum BART Station that will get you to Downtown SF in about 40-45 minutes for around $10
