Chip and Laura's story begins at Longwood University, specifically at a Sigma Nu fraternity house in the fall of 2019. Not much happened—just a dropped beer pong ball and a girl not paying any attention while she tells off his fraternity brother. Fast forward a couple weeks. Chip was interviewing for the Greek honors society, and it so happened that Laura got chosen to be in the group that interviewed him. Then COVID-19 happened, and we were all sent home, but that didn't stop Chip and Laura from continuing to get to know each other. Laura had no idea where this might go, especially because she was planning to go out of state for graduate school. But by some luck, she got a call and was invited to attend Longwood's graduate school. So, she returned to Farmville, where Chip was returning for his senior year. After a couple of dates, some rumple shots, and Chip's persistence, the budding relationship turned into wherever Laura was, Chip would not be that far behind. Over the next 3 years, they would work together at the Virginia Tasting Cellar, adopt their little "dumpster kitty" Mango, Chip would go to Parris Island, and they would move to Shockoe Bottom. Then, finally there was the proposal. After what Laura and her friends felt like was ages, Chip decided to finally plan the proposal. Chip enlisted the help of Laura's twin sister, Rachel, to make sure the day was perfect. After a lot of planning, secret meetings, and praying that Laura didn't find the ring, Chip proposed at Meadow Park in Richmond on June 24th, 2023. After 3 years together, our story is just beginning, and we are so excited to celebrate our love for each other on June 29th, 2024!
