Nos conocimos en una fiesta de Halloween organizada por nuestros amigos Demian y Amanda. Él iba disfrazado de fantasma y yo de oso panda. Aunque no convivimos mucho esa noche, comenzamos a vernos casualmente en reuniones de amigos. No fue hasta 2021, en una fiesta de nuestro amigo Juan Carlos, que Patricio, quien ya se iba, se fijó en mí y decidió quedarse un rato más. Ese rato se convirtió en varias horas con Patricio buscando cada oportunidad para hablar conmigo y finalmente, después de regresar a casa a las 5 a.m. (algo muy raro en Patricio), decidió que quería conocerme mejor y me agregó en Facebook. Después de eso, Patricio se armó de valor y me invitó a tomar un café y ahi comenzó nuestra historia...

We met at a Halloween party hosted by our friends Demian and Amanda. He was dressed as a ghost and I as a panda bear. Although we didn’t interact much that night, we started seeing each other casually at friends’ gatherings. It wasn’t until 2021, at a party hosted by our friend Juan Carlos, that Patricio, who was about to leave, noticed me and decided to stay a little longer. That little while turned into several hours, and finally, after returning home at 5 a.m. (something very unusual for Patricio), he decided he wanted to get to know me better and added me on Facebook. After that, Patricio gathered the courage and invited me to have coffee in Bellevue, WA.

Nuestra primera cita fue en un pequeño café en Bellevue. Ambos llevábamos ya un par de años viviendo en Estados Unidos y teníamos varios amigos en común, pero realmente no habíamos hablado el uno con el otro hasta esa primera cita. La conversación fluyó con naturalidad, y poco a poco fuimos descubriendo quiénes éramos, de dónde veníamos y cuáles eran nuestros sueños. Después de un rato, decidimos salir a caminar. El sol comenzaba a ponerse, pintando el cielo con tonos de azul, naranja y rosa. Caminamos juntos, disfrutando del momento y de la compañía del otro. Fue entonces cuando nos dimos cuenta de que éramos muy similares y buscábamos lo mismo en la vida. Una conexión genuina nació. Se podría decir que Patricio y yo comenzamos a enamorarnos desde esa primera cita y dos años después, Patricio me propuso matrimonio en el mismo balcón al atardecer..

Our first date was at a small café in Bellevue. We had both been living in the United States for a couple of years and had several mutual friends, but we hadn’t really talked to each other until that first date. The conversation flowed naturally, and little by little we discovered who we were, where we came from, and what our dreams were. After a while, we decided to go for a walk. The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky with shades of blue, orange, and pink. We walked together, enjoying the moment and each other’s company. It was then that we realized we were very similar and looking for the same things in life. A genuine connection was born. You could say that Patricio and I started to fall in love from the first date and two years later, that same spot would be where Patricio asked me to marry him.
